my 850 EVO has outlasted any HDD I've ever had and my 840 PRO is probably still working somewhere in fucking australia, the other side of the world, it went there in 2019, I think the guy I gave it to bought some cheap NVMe though but it still lasted from 2014 to 2020 for sure

i regularly use HDDs from 15 years ago
buy industrial strength SSDs, only partition 75% at most, don't hibernate your machine, download files to ramdisk or an external, etc. do all that and your shit will last forever

use the right tool for the job
for example, I wouldn't torrent off a SSD

I had 5 (not fucking with you) seagate hard drives fail within less then a year back in the mid 2000s. In contrast I never really had an SSD failing, even when I used an slow Intenso SSD. I guess I'd have to deliberately buy one of those kingchink SSDs or whatever the fuck they keep selling for like 30 bucks a terabyte.
