>UPGRADE & BUILD ADVICE Post build list or current specs including MONITOR: pcpartpicker.com/ Provide specific use cases (e.g. 4K editing, high FPS gaming) State budget and region
With motherboard prices factored in they come out near enough equal.

You have to look up reviews on individual cards
The price
In my opinion, always go genuine Xbox, which can be easily connected to your PC over bluetooth if you have a recent wifi module. I tried out a lot of aftermarket controllers in the 360/PS3 days and they were all absolutely terrible. The aftermarket situation might be better these days, who knows. As for Playstation controllers, I hate the ergonomics; way too small for my hands. The PS5 controller has some interesting haptics though, not sure whether they're allowed to be accessed on PC. For me, must have accessories for an Xbox controller are rechargeable batteries and thumbstick extenders. What I have: amazon.com/gp/product/B08LMP4PJ3 amazon.com/gp/product/B00JQMV3F4
thoughts? looking for a good 1080p build, most stuff is from a previous build.

looks good, you could probably do with a corsair rm850x psu (im using that currently), 1000w is great but you wont need nearly that much. Also see if you can get a NVME SSD for your m2 slot if there is a decent price (512gb/1tb is enough, you just put your favorite games/apps on that drive)

bullshit. the 12400 is ~100 cheaper than the ryzen intel mobos are not ~100 more expensive, for equal quality boards
Levi Edwards
The i5 with an H610 is cheaper than the R5 with an A520, and you can still run 3200MHz memory in either case. Same situation if you're comparing the i5 with a B660 wifi board to the R5 with a B550 wifi board.
Intel is cheaper for now, although if it turns out that you want something specific in a motherboard, maybe the costs turn out to be equal because there isn't a huge selection of cheap B660 mobos. Regardless, Intel is the default, and AMD needs to lower its prices if it wants to get recommended not only in /pcbg/ but by the major tech outlets
Market the stuff you already have as purchased or at $0.00. I would add in another SSD and either just ditch the old one or use it as a scratch drive off to the side. Can also of course keep it as your boot drive an use the new one as your games drive. What monitor?

H610 and A520 are budget casual boards, not gaming boards. The i5 isn't even in the OP's budget gaming category. Cheapest 5 B550 boards on pcpartpicker: 69.99, 91.21, 97.64, 99.99, 102.99 Cheapest 5 B660 boards on pcpartpicker: 119.99, 139.99, 139.99, 139.99, 139.99 On pcpartpicker 12400 is 208.94, and 5600x is 269.99.
Comparing cheapest vs cheapest the difference is 11.05, and with the second cheapest boards it's 12.27. That's a small difference that can be overcome by local pricing and sales.

>H610 and A520 are budget casual boards, not gaming boards Absolutely not true. Gaymers especially don't need more, although the price differential between A520 and B550 is small enough that there's really no reason not to go B550 for most people.
>On pcpartpicker 12400 is 208.94 You need to be comparing the 12400F to the 5600X, usually sold for $180. Of course right now it's out of stock in the US, except for a $25 premium. There is no AMD product directly comparable to 12400 non-F, at least not worth mentioning, since the 5600G compares so poorly
>That's a small difference that can be overcome by local pricing and sales. Not saying it can't be, and I think there are specific reasons to buy AMD, but in general the i5 builds are around $50 cheaper with a comparable mobo
you can get a 6600XT, the 6600 and 6600XT are the best value cards atm (highest fps per dollar)

Too little too late Funny how the red jew only opened that up after ADL pressure
Lincoln Nguyen
I don't think its too late, it adds another few years for people looking to upgrade platforms, they can throw in a brand new 5800X3D, coming soon!
Alexander Nelson
>implying that's coming to 300 series boards Nope. I'll bet it's not even coming to 400 series boards. Not saying I don't hope 300 series owners will get the chance to use a 5800X3D, because AMD did promise socket support to early adopters and they didn't deliver. Even my B450 almost didn't get Ryzen 5000 support
Adrian Perry
I think at this point AMD wants as many people as possible to buy the 5800X3D
Rtx 3060 or rx 6600xt for gayming? Other than amount of fans, is there any performance differences between the 2 fan and 3 fan 3060s? MSI has both and they seem the exact same.
3060 ti > rx6600 > 3060 if you dont give a shit about raymeme
David Cook
If you're buying retail, the 3060 is about $200 more expensive than the 6600 XT, and the 6600 XT is about 10% more powerful at 1080p. The 6600 non-XT is about 3060 level perf and it's $300 cheaper. I would go with Radeon based on that information
At the higher tiers (for higher resolution), 3060 Ti vs 6700 XT and 3080 vs 6800 XT, I would always go with the LHR RTX cards at current retail pricing
Bentley Roberts
im not an expert, but i don't see how its going to stop you not unless they completely lock down windows so it can only run signed binaries and then also lock down the computer itself so it can only run windows
Adam Lewis
Cooling versus clearance. Many MATX towers won't fit a 3 fan, 323mm card, but should snug in a 276mm card just fine.
