Honestly speaking there is not too much of a difference from one terminal emulator to one another. Unless you want font ligatures or if you pick something so minimal that does not support scrolling and similar basic features. Use whatever.

My problem with alacritty and kitty was that I always had to do some configuration in most servers I handle with SSH.
With VTE-based terminal emulators always worked fine.

st, it just works

i really liked st, but i left it because it has no scrollback. I tried the scrollback patch but it had weird quirks and didn't really work well. Also suckless scroll didn't work very well either.

xterm >b-but it's bloated it works, you have to configure it to look good, but it works. (also vte is bloated as well soooo)
don't worry bro, you only have to add like 3(?) patches for it to work
Christopher Brown

Dominic Ward

Parker Jones

Colton Phillips

I use Alacritty. only thing i hate about it is that it will refuse to launch after every gpu driver update until i reboot. Other than that it's alright.
