This. A new company in the field can't possibly compete with established giants like AMD and NVIDIA. Say what you want about their cards, but they have experience building them and putting what the people want inside them.

Intel Arc Alchemist has AV1 hardware encoder and DisplayPort 2.0, no competitor has these features yet so it will be desirable

It's on TSMC 7 nm, so it will have all the same supply constraints, but Intel can afford big orders unlike AMD and will likely know they need to be more competitive than Nvidia to enter the market.
Intel potentially could shake things up if they follow through with those plans for Ohio fabs, but these big American manufacturing plans are usually just for show and and 5 years later less than 100 people are actually working at the facilities.
