I'm guessing the appeal is that it toasts bread as you slice it.

I'm surprised with the chip sortage that there isn't some sort of regulation with how they're being used, since "smart" devices are one one of the most useless things you couldout a chip in.

they're for old ladies with barely functional hands

Not for the governmental agencies who want to spy on you.

the government really needs to know how often i slice bread

(you)

the 84+ was introduced in 2004

oh you need to blink an LED and read some switches? just throw an STM32 in there!

electric bread slicers are based, my local supermarket has one in their bakery section you get a laof of bread put it in there and it gets perfectly slices in like 2 seconds

>dude just do it in 74-series logic
nigga microcontrollers are the cheapest way of doing things in 1974+48

They could use them to snoop on which devices are in your household etc.

My landlord got a new oven for my apartment, it says "WiFi compatible" on it
how the fuck would an oven use wifi

God I hope you're right

my washing machine does something similar, I'd guess it's for timers and presets, so you could set it up to do 2 hours at a low temp, then 1 hour at a high temp, save that as a preset in some app and maybe share presets attached to recipies

my washing machine did exactly that, though why anyone would use anything other than "quick 30" on a washing machine is beyond me
