You faggots better not be lying about putting 16gb into a t420. . .

>he fell for it

Sandy and Ivy support it

Do you buy your parts on ebay or aliexpress

About to buy my first thinkpad. Used T530 for 180 euro is good, right? Seems to be in good condition.

IBM burgers and Japan should return making Thinkpads with the golden age specification.

The shit is hitting the fan since 2019, people need sturdy and easy to maintain tools. And who better than the burgers and nips.

Why thinkpads? Ethan Hunt used one to save his life thats why

Is the battery in good shape? How much RAM? FHD display? I mean if it has the FHD display alone I'd instantly buy it for that much. The great thing about the T530 is that the factory FHD is really good for a TN panel, it's around the level of a worse IPS with colors and viewing angles are alright. The other great thing is that if you get the dGPU cooler, from what I heard you can run a QBC1 (3920XM ES) overclocked to 4 GHz fine on it. The heatsink is fucking huge.

>IBM burgers and Japan should return making Thinkpads with the golden age specification.
The T series are still designed in Japan and the USA, retard. Also the T60 is way better than IBM shit like the T43.

I concede but everything is soldered now I mean what the fuck what are they doing over here.

The person selling it doesn't list too much info about it. All that's listed is "i7 third gen, 12gb RAM, 256gb SSD."
My concern is that the battery isn't all that great, but even if I end up having to replace it it should be a good price, right?

>everything is soldered now
HP EliteBooks still do not have this issue. Picrel is the 835 G8 which competes with the ThinkPad X13. If they make one with USB 4 (PCIe 3.0 x4) and it's still like this it will be the best laptop ever made.

That's pretty good for that price. Might be a high end factory model which will be a quad core with the FHD screen. Either way the specs are good for 180 euro.

when they removed the bottom door on G3's was when the EliteBook died.

Looks like I'm buying it then, thanks for the help.

Pretty good ebay deal on this T420 if anyone wants it, I'd get it, but I just got an x230

No one in /csg/ answered, I humbly come to you.

>Kingspec SSD for secondary drive inside ThinkPad (i.e. not the system drive, and whatever contents are on there will always be backed up elsewhere)
Good idea or bad idea? I'm tempted.
"Why not put an HDD in instead?": I move my laptop a lot while using, and when I put an HDD in there the G-sense error rate always starts to rise.
A 2TB Kingspec is pretty cheap even with import tax.

ok, what is theoretically the highest end thinkpad you could reasonably build/buy with libreboot?
I'm looking into getting one and want to know the upper limit to libre thinkpad performance. Preferably 14" and under, because i want it to fit nicely in my messenger bag.

Bros does anyone know where to get an internal smartcard reader for the T14S?
Alternatively can I rip out the smartcard reader from my T460 and throw it in the T14S? I don't know how cross-compatible these are.
