They don't pay for games or websites. They could esily make them on their own. They pay for userbase - and it makes a lot of sense, let devs work their ass off , and buy everything that becomes popular. the thousands of not-so-popular games dont get any money.

You can shoot someone for accidentally stepping on the grass at the end of your yard in America and not face any repercussions. Killing an obvious home intruder has never resulted in jail time for the homeowner in America.

This is only true in a handful of red states and even then you're only safe from criminal charges, you can and will be taken to civil court by the family of the deceased where your rights don't apply and standards are lower to convince a judge the "victims" need to be compensated. You may or may not be held civilly liable, even if you're not they can repeatedly appeal the decision.
