death of kayfabe. In the old days wrestlinfg attracted rough, crazy motherfuckers because they thought it was real.
Had to add....

What's the closest we have now?
The one in the middle is a tranny
They got roids out of wrestling and big guys don't watch wrestling any more.
Hint: Steroid
I don't understand why people use images of HHH when he went off everything so he could get his wife pregnant. A terrible example for anything but reminding people that you can't always be on extreme levels of PEDs and live a normal life.
Deathmatch wrestling, it still attracts rough people and involves a much rougher style.
Kerry looks like the guys at my gym that get banned because the staff finds used syringes in the locker room.
The territories wanted to keep kayfabe, so they found people who were legit athletes or looked tough. WWF and WCW didn't really start developing people until 1996/1997 and both programs had issues - WWF would take people who weren't ready, rush them on TV and play mind games with them and WCW had too big of a roster to use them and ran a lot of guys out with insane workout regimes.
TNA really didn't develop many wrestlers at all and the indies never scouted talent - they just trained whoever wanted to pay. There's also no money being made, so it's harder to attract people.
WWE is on the right track though. They've got a bunch of good sized dudes and people with real athletic credentials in NXT. AEW is the total opposite though as the people they are producing at the Nightmare Factory look like they are from reddit.
reminder: when Steve Austin first began training as a wrestler, he started legit beating the shit out of people. They had to take him aside and tell him it wasnt real. So think about that: He thought all that crazy shit was real and he still wanted to do it for a living. And he became one of the greatest of all time. You arent going to produce a guy like that at the fucking wwe performance center.
>only had girls
he fucked up his test levels so bad he couldn't sire sons
just like ali and the rock
>The territories wanted to keep kayfabe, so they found people who were legit athletes or looked tough.
That's interesting. And it makes sense too. Were the "Territories" like regular but mafia types wanting to catch a buck on wrestling at the time then?
>WWE is on the right track though. They've got a bunch of good sized dudes.
Have they stopped the weird cringe Cena type PG 2010 kids presentation since Vince left? If so I might give it another 1000th chance. Getting rid of Micheal Cole would probably help if they haven't already.
Genetics do play a role in this. It seems like the classrooms nerds and geeks somehow got attracted to becoming wrestlers. Now they become mechanical engineers or reach for the NFL or NBA
absolutely. They need to either bring back kayfabe or make it real.
You learn something new every day
>cringe Cena-type PG 2010 kids presentation
Yeah they're stopping that, but that takes some time.
There's storylines to finish for one, new creative to produce, and then a rebranding strategy (ala "we're attitude now" in 1997) to surround the changed product.
It could take 3 months man. But we're already seeing changes happen in a segment each Raw where someone or two talents are given a little more freedom to speak for themselves as opposed to reciting a script.
I only watch AEW PVV's nowdays, but what does Tony Khan think about this? Sounds like creating an alternative to WWE is gonna be some fucking hard mode objective if WWE actually gets good again lol.
Also #twomoreweeks
WWE has claimed many times over the last decade they will change. And HHH was a part of those promos too. Do you really feel like it's a good stock?
you seem particularly enamoured of that picture with Kerry's package edited
UFC, maybe the lower leagues of MMA fighting.
Nope. Or are you trolling? Or did you edit the original? I only noticed he was actually bigger than Batista or pretty much anyone else. Even Cena is a twink compared to him
