Have you seen housing costs nowadays, user? Even working full-time, being able to afford one on a low wage is impossible. I just pay my folks $100 a week in rent to cover utilities and shit, at least then it's going to them rather than a societal parasite (landlord).

Wasting copious amounts of money to be even more alone doesn't seem like an investment that pays off. I have the money to do it but the prospect of living all alone is made unbearable by also trading in a large portion of your ability to save up money.
I still cope by claiming I'm saving up for a house, but truth is, I have no motivation to achieve anything as long as the chance is there I'll end up alone anyway.
It's a paradox. I need a drive to achieve to gain meaningful relationships and love, but I need the former to gain a drive to achieve.
