lol I get arguing against meme degrees but I dont get the vitriol for philosophy itself
like saying people who are very fit are pointless because theyre never going to have to lift a car off someone or something

slavery, sexism, fascism, human sacrifice, political systems, all things that have been alleviated through philosophy... philosophy is just thought made into ideals. people express their opinions on subjects to develop them. its not rocket science. what a retarded question.

>alleviated
You misspelled invented.

I think that Rene descartes guy was the first to suggest that light could have a constant speed.
God, imagine being a mathematician, physicist, serving in the army, and being a philosopher.

>like saying people who are very fit are pointless because theyre never going to have to lift a car off someone or something
OK but that also happens so vOv

fitness solves problems and can be measured. without fitness you die of a heart attack and become cringe.

philosophy is fundamentally trivial. you don't gain any meaningful advantages while doing thought experiments. but the answer to your question is that self proclaimed philosophers and intellectuals have a big ego and are generally just strange college kids with no real interests. it's fun to knock them down a peg. at the end of the day, philosophy is just an extension of spirituality through a more logic based language. it can be based and fun, but only when applied to real shit.

op asked if philosophy has "solved any relevant problems?"

of course the question is just retarded if you are of the opinion that all human thought is subjective and therefore cant possess an objective value.

>i cant see ideas so theyre not real

>everyone on earth is a philosopher
I agree.

How exactly has any problem on this list been "solved" by philosophy? All of them are worse today than every before.

>have a big ego and are generally just strange
Ur the only one here with a big ego. Ppl with big egos are VERY narrow minded. Philosophers are not

You just said the exact opposite of the truth of the matter. Which begs the question, why are philosophers so narrow minded?

>philosophy is fundamentally trivial
Based and smart pilled. I can already see all those pseudointellectual kids seething.

i mean... it depends where you live. if you're just taking numbers at face value world wide, than all those things might be worse. but if you take them as percentages, in countries that are well developed, they are largely decreased. there is objectively less slavery in first world countries than ever before. same with everything else. unless you count first world countries exploiting the third world labour force, which would be a valid point.

>I dont get the vitriol for philosophy itself
It's a bunch of people who think language problems are indicative of real problems. Why wouldn't you make fun of it? They tie their own brains in knots and think they've found something profound when they untie themselves. It's stupid.

Philosophy gave birth to psychology. For that alone, philosophy with always be GOAT.

Hence why so many women study psychology

It wont help you financially, but it will help you spiritually

lol okay user, I'm sure youre the most macho cowboy on ram ranch, but does suicide not count as a real problem? you honestly think the body is a tool to build houses and roads and farms, the only thing thats worth doing is whatever happens to have the best job market?

>philosophy justifies suicide
Nobody cares about philosophy or mental gymnastics. Having a job feeds the people that dont need to sudoku

Philosophy is only one part of an intellectual. Like has geography ever solved any real world problems? not on it's own. I aint solving shit despite knowing all the countries, their capitals, their flags, their history. I guess people only find their niches interesting but you are gay asf if you study philosophy in college. Like does reading shitty VNs or mangas solve any real world problems, does making comics on the internet solve anything? You just hate pseudo intellectuals we all do.

>>philosophy justifies suicide
it doesnt endorse or criticize suicide, only asks the question, and usually helps people cope

Philosophy is not useless. It can change your lifestyle. The way how you think its very important for this world and yourself

you don't need to be Plato or Jordan Peterson to ask a question.

exactly, so is your problem with the concept of philosophy or just individuals you dont like

>there is objectively less slavery in first world countries
Only because they rebranded slavery as wage work.

my problem is with people who think philosophy is different from "thinking" which everyone already does and you don't need any academic experience to do so.

Psychology is garbage. At best it is useless pseudo-esoteric nonsense like homeopathy. At worst it is propaganda, brainwashing and hateful ideology.

>read philosophical text
>realize it's full of trivial and naive bullshit I can easily refute
Wow, that sure changed my lifestyle ...

really? youre getting riled up over phrasing?

LMAO.
Nice bait. Philosophy provided us with advances in critical thinking, which gave rise to actual civilization.
You think it started with people like plato? Wrong, it was in play long before that.
You can even credit writing to it-- when people answered the question: Why should we store knowledge for future generations?

Philosophy is asking questions that seem useless to brainlets, until the trickle down effects reach them-- but they're too dumb to realize that : Oh hey, somebody was questioning everything about the current nature of our existence and it lead to practical ideas.
