I think people should be politically selfish. I think racism, sexism, etc. are actually good when deciding on political issues and people should embrace voting for whatever benefits them the most in all situations. Would make political theory a lot simpler.

I'm tired of either side justifying themselves to the other. "Yes I want X policy but I'm not racist because.." etc. When you consider things in terms of whether they are more beneficial or harmful to you and your loved ones only, everything is much simpler. Yes I do want a strong state managing most essential things like energy, health, education, justice/prisons and the taxes needed for it. I'm also for strong unions and full transparency, focusing on how your regular citizen can get involved in the political life and each part of the country have rules adapated for their specific population/environnement.
I'm strongly against justice as "punishment", it's more a necessity for people unable to function in society who need to be set apart only when necessary, focusing on education and reinsertion as it's the most efficient way to reduce criminality, hating criminals never acheive anything but mob lynches and pressure on the jurists.
In term of societal values however, I'm not for the complete anhiliation of traditional values. Just like it was with green-washing, there is a trend of "rainbow"-washing if I can call it that where key issues are ignored in favor of being "'progressive". Return to facts and meta-analysis, stop ignore the source of an inequality when trying to solve it (realizing it doesn't always need to be solved).
Hate against trans/gays etc. is retarded, but the backlash on anyone who dare have a critical olpinion about it is even worse. This is a more controversial topic that requires in-depth knowledge that I don't have to address properly so it's more of a general feeling:
It is delusional to think that a country can shoot itself in the foot by implementing absurd environmental laws. However, better for the environment does not always mean worse for the economy, there are areas where both are beneficial, and they are not yet exploited for many reasons such as pressure from lobbies, lack of incentives for research, geopolitical agreements, etc.
Showing how much we care about the planet through ludicrous actions that make no difference should be denounced, not encouraged. But being too conservative can also be harmful to some extent.
For example, it is illusory to want a ban on meat consumption, but there are big issues with the state of animal food production and it can be reorganized. If you are too poor to afford anything other than cheap beef, you don't have to eat it every day too, there are many alternative sources of protein even in meats. Installing wind turbines everywhere can be more harmful than helpful and if you point this out you can be called an anti-environmentalist. Offshore wind turbines (even if they are not applicable everywhere) are still underestimated and under-exploited.
Overall, there are ways to make environmental issues more real and present, it's the only way, you won't get people to care about what happens in 50+ years. There are enough immediate issues to pick from. The current aggressive attitude is just counterproductive. Guilt-tripping and placing the responsiblity on individuals is also hypocritcal, the main issues are on company-levels and dealt with politically.

Oh yeah good point. While ideally nuclear (in its current state) should be "temporary", it's the miles better than fossil and the only realistic alternative as of now - no energy really comes without drawbacks anyway. The push against it and fear mongering from both radical ecologists and fossil lobbies is extremely backward.
