I am amazed someone here knows who Zhuge Liang is I am a bit of a sperg for Chinese history and I especially love the three kingdoms period. Also Cao didn't so much as have the mandate (and didn't want to supplant the emperor, ironically though his son, being the smart one did...) but he did have the most brain and the best *luck*.

Cow cow was so brilliant and cunning he definitely had the mandate he controlled the "emperor" and was his rightful protector he was just wise enough to not declare himself emperor as he understand to political implications behind it but he was the rightful ruler that masterminded everything. I would argue cow pie was not as brilliant he just took advantage of the opportunity his father gave him which was wise in itself but he was manipulated by sima yi who was also incredibly cunning but we saw how his offspring handled things. Its such a shame that the sons of great men tend to fuck everything up. The kind of ambition that was shown in the three kingdoms period was so inspiring and I wish more people understood this period it was the pinnacle of human cunning hands down my favorite historical period. I hate to say it but European history never really matched the same amount of cunning that was show in Chinese history.

Oh I just think it's more along the lines that the Han still had the mandate in technicality.

Also I love how the new film series portrays that scheming Sima Yi... I wonder if he ever actually intended that in actual history or if it was just his kids getting into it with Cao's descendants.
