Dave's really leaned into this idea of "modern" wrestling being the sort of pinnacle of the artform and it's created an insane level of bias/hype/overrating of the present

>modern wrestling
This is Dave's narrative and the sole reason he gives stars to flippyshit matches. It's literally a work. He's putting over guys that fit his own narrative.

Why do you have a random post from a random forum from a year ago?

this faggot OP cycles through shitty reddit twitter and f4w screencaps to console war and get attention because mommy didnt hug him enough.

Didn't Dave take a break from wrestling for many years because he thought it was fucking abysmal?

The marks are in the ring

Except for Meltzer Magoo since he isn't a wrestler or real journalist KEK

Dave's problem has always been that he has zero idea as to what actually makes a good match and he's just impressed by a fast pace, high spots and big, dangerous moves. Like yes, '80s and '90s AJW was great but I don't think he actually understands why it was great beyond "Toyota did big moves" or why the early interpromotional matches worked so well, playing off of very real heat that existed between the promotions.

He basically lessened his wrestling coverage starting in the mid-2000s until at some point in the early/mid-2010s because UFC was rising in popularity and he was basically the main MMA journalist so he was getting hit up for interviews and stuff way more for that than wrestling.

I remember it used to be a common complaint from people who would listen to WOR/WOL that more and more of the shows were becoming about MMA and that Dave was obsessed with it.

>from people who would listen to WOR/WOL that more and more of the shows were becoming about MMA and that Dave was obsessed with it.
kek I unironically liked the MMA coverage more than his wrestling coverage, especially when they had filthy on to fill in the gaps.

I remember when Paul Bearer died, he did like a 15 segment looking over his career then rambled for nearly an hour about MMA.

>I remember it used to be a common complaint from people who would listen to WOR/WOL that more and more of the shows were becoming about MMA and that Dave was obsessed with it.
I 100% remember this. There'd be an Observer Radio after every UFC show and no matter what wrestling news there were (Which was what I was there for), he'd go over it for the first 40 minutes.

I remember people in each thread for each episode just providing the time link to skip all that shit, but even then the UFC shit would keep propping up throughout the show.

People complained and it made them butthurt as shit that they complained.

Hi Steve Yohe cool blogspot

none of those old cunts could cut today, boomers are such faggots .

The thing is, different people have different tastes, nigga. For me, I know wrestling is fake so I can't get in to a slow match where they're hugging each other and working limbs. I usually only enjoy the hard hitting really stiff Japanese stuff or crazy violent gimmick matches. Pretty much anything pre-attitude era in the USA is nearly unwatchable for me.

Okada will probably end up being in HOF but he's not even halfway though his career, you can't tell what his legacy will be
Omega's was the worst, AEW could still die tomorrow and what would his legacy be? he had the matches with Okada and he had the belt for a bit, he wasn't some big draw or a significant figure Dave just likes him and his opinion is fact

>listening to the observer in mid-2000s
kek there's people here who are shoot in their late 30s

Omega was absolutely a big draw, broke records, and was a catalyst for creating and maintaining a company that broke WWEs monopoly. That alone gets him in.

Okada had the most important title run of many generations, the idea of the HOF being a “gift” is also fucking retarded

Dave and his 900k little groupies can say whatever they want. At the end of the day WWE doesn't give a shit about his opinion and will never promote faggots like okada as legends

>just got my WON and listened to the podcast
>goes into multk-paragraph diatribe about why Dave is wrong about wrestling
Why are people like this? Why are they obsessed and dedicate so much of their time to things they dislike?

I don't even understand why Dave likes AJPW, they didn't do flippy shit.

> At the end of the day WWE doesn't give a shit about his opinion and will never promote faggots like okada as legends

Why would WWE give a shit about Okada anyway when Okada never worked for them?

You act as if Dave alone, weren't the fucking retard who's responsible for the state of modern wrestling. Workrate isn't even a wrestling term, that's just some gay shit that came from Dave, but now even modern day wrestlers use the word workrate, & try to wrestle to Dave's standards. Fuck that guy, he's not even part of the wrestling biz, but he constantly influences it to be shittier & shittier.

Said it in another thread but it's worth repeating.

Imagine taking the 5 star+ matches seriously and you decide to watch them in chronological order. You see Tiger Mask vs Dynamite Kid, Flair vs Steamboat, a plethora of AJPW and AJW. And when you get to the modern day and you're watching countless hours of spotfests that aren't nearly as good as the dragon gate six man from 2006.

>Why would WWE give a shit about Okada anyway when Okada never worked for them?
If NJPW goes up for sale for the 5th time in the last 10 years and WWE's buys it. The HoF is full of guys that only made it in cause WWE now owns their footage.
