hospitals charge you like you personally broke all their equipment and need to buy it for them again. they'll be like "alright we gave you a bandaid that'll be $900,000 plus tip for all the resources that took"
Hospitals charge you like you personally broke all their equipment and need to buy it for them again...
Hospitals set prices at a certain rate so that they can negotiate with insurance companies individually on reimbursement. The 900,000 dollar bandage is the pre-negotiation rate. Just tell them you're uninsured and broke and they'll magically make your bill smaller.
CAPITALISM. IT JUST WORKS.
>Just tell them you're uninsured and broke and they'll magically make your bill smaller
Lmao
That's America for you man. Many countries have public health insurance, personally I never had to pay any medical cost and will never have, my mother had her breast cancer treated and it didn't cost her a single euro. Sure I pay more taxes, but the gov keep the prices controlled so there is not the fuckery that is happening in America where health insurances and hospitals make agreements to increase prices and charge you like up to 7K USD for giving birth while here it's free to give birth.
I know it comes with some advantages to have no involvement of government but still I prefer it here, 35h of work per week, 30 days of paid leave, no medical cost, free education... the rich indeed complain they're taxed too much and I won't claim everything is perfect, but it makes the life of everyone better, and I also get a lot of time to be with my wife and my child as he grows up. I'm happy I was born in my country.
yes, because they want you to pay something instead of just blowing the bill off (which you can do, it'll just wreck your credit)
Ah jeez dude. 140? Ahhhh. Ahh dude. I hurt my leg bro. I lost my shoe. I was out on the street and I hurt my leg dude and was in the hospital for days with my leg. And they got me on these pills. I cant afford anything. I cant pay 140.
>I understand sir so you cant pay 140, what can you do?
Ahhh jeez. I dunno uhhh...$3?
Great post sam
>I understand sir, will you settle for half?
Ahhhh...I can pay like 40% of it right now cash but I only got cash because of the pills. I havent had money in days. I got $4000...what do I owe you, 140 thousand? Ahhh dude. I got four thousand now but the only way I can pay it is if I pay off all the debt but thats only cause I got the pills. That moneys gonna be gone tomorrow
This country is so fucked up.
Life in the us is really good if you're making above average money. If you're poor move to europe
>The 900,000 dollar bandage is the pre-negotiation rate.
most autistic system ever created
>If you're poor move to europe
Yeah it's that easy to get citizenship and for a poor person to be able to start a new life there with no connections
insurance shouldn't even exist, it should be illegal
you're betting them that you're going to get sick and they're betting you that you won't. it's completely fucked
How do poor ppl move to the us?
They have family here and are given gibs and housing by the government for coming from third world countries.
They use it as a way to devalue capitalism and boost socialism.
Hospitals and government are in bed with each other
a $1 saline water thing, I believe they charge $130 for.
government forcing monopolies again
It's as if money has been stuffed in their pockets
It's communism masking as Capitalism
if it was, no-one would be buying their services at that price
public hospitals and most private are government controlled if not owned
Just vote republican and you'll get cheaper hospitals, hell you'll be rich in comparison to what ever this president is
Trump needs to alter laws to allow true private hospitals to exist that sell at normal rates and destroy the others thru competition
yet still have the quality (which is not hard in America)

I don't get why Americans like to argue against our healthcare like their shit isn't just as socialist. They take about 20% of our income total which equates to $5k a year for the average person. I'm pretty sure US residents pay just as many taxes.
Yes, Americans pay almost as much tax as euros but we don't get anything back for it.
we pay like 30% less in tax than euros do
Friendly reminder in America any hospital bill you get can be not paid, and removed from your credit score afterwards. Due to how HIPPA works in conjunction with third party collection agencies you can get out of paying your bills. Here is how it works.
>Go to ER/Hospital and obtain bill.
>Do not pay bill to the point the hospital sends it to collections.
>The hospital has now sold your "debt" to get some sort of payment instead of none for the services they did for you to the collection agency.
>Check your credit score using wells fargo. Pay the small fee to look at your credit history etc, and see the strikes against you regarding your hospital bill.
>Dispute the claims against you that the collection agency is making.
>Utilize the following reasoning. "The amount charged is not the correct amount". In a way this sounds like you're taking ownership of your debt. You are not, what you are doing is saying they are charging you too much, and this forces the debt collectors to PROVE that they are charging you accurately for your services.
>The only problem is HIPPA does not extend to collection agencies. So the third party collectors have ZERO idea what was done to you at the hospital.
>Since they have no way to prove what happened to you at the hospital to prove you are debted the exact amount against you they have to drop the charges from your credit score entirely since they can not prove without a doubt your debt due to HIPPA not legally being allowed to disclose this information to them.
Yes this works. You literally never need health insurance as hospitals can not legally deny you care either unless they are an entirely private organization.
