idk, after mgs 3 the games didn't feel like metal gear to me, it was pretty much similar to Uncharted or Tomb Raider as far as I remember. the first two solid games did have that metal gear top down essence. I really had fun with that. it used to be what it wanted to be. but the story does get better at times later in the series I guess, I really love the worldbuilding and the fact that all the cutscenes play like essentially a movie lol. the games are even on letterboxd for that reason
