My family has had this shower for 25 years. They "clean" it often, but it looks the same as it was a week later.

Along with the modern art, we have a section I started cleaning already, before I got yelled at that I was "damaging" the shower

It overall just looks like shit and needs to go.
Mother is downstairs today so I will get some progress

Picrel is how thick the build up of 25 years has been

No, it doesn't really smell.
But I do choose to not touch the walls when I shower

The grime doesn't wash down the fucking drain.

Good work OP, that looks alot better.

I think I will need harsher chemicals. Scraping it off takes too long and the sprays/cleaners only works on the top layers

what have you been using on it?

if you're in the US check this stuff out
it works like a charm and easy to use

never shower in the bronx

I am obese and need to shower regularly.

Inhuman.
I clean my bathtub and shower once a month and I thought I was neglectful....

I'm sure this stuff is good, really any cleaner will do. For scrubbing,
Also instead of wasting your time scrubbing, get a pack of some power drill attachments and get to work. I use the same stuff when cleaning my car(roads get salted) among other things.

I love those little bastards, totally changed my cleaning game. I steal a box of them from my work at least once a year.

I also see that you have a glass door. There are some mr clean magic erasers that do a great job and getting water stains off glass. Get some of those.
With the state your shower was in, its likely you will also have to redo the silicone lining. Its not hard to do but you could also fuck it up and have pretty bad leaks though.
Don't forget to also clean your showerheads. and get your shower drain scrubbed clean of gunk so it drains properly. A shop vac can pull all the water out, and there are some brushes you can pick up at any hardware store that will bend past the trap and scrub it thoroughly.
