Myfitnesspal is the only thing that helped me lose weight. It also generates a really satisfying line graph to document your progress. Looking at it gives me a high. Also it has basically every food in existence in its database

Exercising makes it easier to eat better because your body knows junk food will make you sick when you are worn out.
A little muscle from lifting means you burn more calories.
High volume foods like broccoli are good.
Eating slower and with more space between makes you more full.
You ultimately need to be in a calorie deficit to lose weight.
You probably don't need to lose all that much though, so don't sweat it too much.
Starve yourself is bad advice for weight loss. For long term weight loss it's better to do it over a period of 2-3 years, gradually. Or your body will freak the fuck out the moment you deviate from your /fa/ggot diet and make you a fat as fatass again

its actually really simple, but still very difficult, to lose weight.
There are 3 things to remember, in order of importance (most to least)
1. Stop eating seed and vegetable oils. Seriously, its poison, its repurposed machine lubricant and the rise in obesity and heart disease is strongly correlated to increase in seed/vegetable oil consumption. Cook your food in clarified butter or ghee, tallow, lard, coconut oil and olive oil (but olive oil isn't that great, try to get the other stuff first)
2. Eat real food. Its very easy, though time consuming. Simple rule to follow is, if it has a list of ingredients listed on the packaging, don't eat it. Just east real meat and vegetables that you cook yourself.
3. Reduce your eating window. Insulin makes you fat, and prevents you from burning fat. Insulin spikes every single time you consume calories, even the milk in a cup of coffee will spike your insulin. Eat more food, less frequently. I know intermittent fasting is a meme at this point, but it really works
But the most Important thing you need user is the will and desire to actually lose weight. You have to want it more than you want the comfort and solace you take from food. Good luck

Formerly fat guy here. Alternate day fasting is what made the most impact for me. After the first week, you don't generally get hungry anymore, ever.
But I have to also eat decently on eating days: no goyslop, minimal carbs, high quality proteins and fats (i.e. not seed/vegetable oils).
It's emotionally taxing on me because eating is my only source of comfort, but I can tough it out for 6 week stretches at least.
