Is it so hard to realise they're victims of a social problem, and not genetic defects? If you want to open yourself to being empathetic to them, to see them as people, just look for radical Black literature. I'll tell you right now, if you read it with an open mind and internalise it, it's impossible to not to understand and feel empathy at the destitution and misery of our Black brothers and sisters.
Some reading recommendations, in order of importance to my own worldview specifically: The Black Jacobins is an amazing book, possibly my favourite ever, about the incredible and heroic revolution in Haiti and the disgusting betrayals of the French and British. It puts all the lies and slander about it into perspective. Also good is Settlers: The Mythology of the White Proletariat. Historically, it's less perfect, has some flaws, but its overall a great analysis of the treatment of Black and Indigenous people in the New World by the Europeans and its consequences today. How Europe Under-developed Africa is great, and self-explanatory.
I'm not telling you to believe anything, but to keep an open mind if you're truly willing to question everything you know about them today.
Your racial group is a completely lost cause, the only thing you can do is prove yourself as an upstanding and good individual to those immediately around you. Realistically, those are the only people that actually matter, everything else is just noise.

Most children are capable of recognizing a reflection in a mirror as themselves as late as 2 years old, often earlier. Psychological tests on African children in the Congo were on average still unable to recognize themselves in the mirror pushing age 6.
