we are the same in this user
especially when you wageslave dreaming of all the things you could do only to come home and do nothing, it exponentially breeds mental illness and idk what to do either

I've thought about this from time to time and have come to the conclusion that people with introspection don't have to feel guilty about not creating anything since the consumption itself serves as a catalyst for self-development, every time you consume music , videos, art etc are small pieces that can serve you as an individual. creating something inspirational can only come out of those people who have been versed before

Create something! What are you waiting for? But my question would be
Why do you want to create something? Why this generic "something"? So you can be a "creator"? So you can say
>Look mom, Im creative?
Creator dont want do "do something", they want to concretely make a song, or a short story, or a painting. Or they trained and internalized their craft and they dont even want to create something, it just comes out
My point is, creating is better than just consuming because you can learn about yourself and what you like and comunicate with others, but your way of approaching it seems to be a question of external validation, of "I need to be a creator for the sake of being a creator", a view at the same time romantic and unproductive, a way of being special amidst the masses. This wont take you far
Cope, and I don say that in an agressive way. But chances are even if you were a neet you wouldnt create, you are just using wageslaving as an excuse. Just fucking do somethkng, something crappy, study something, do exercises in your chosen craft, whatever
Cope too
Its only when you really exercise introspection and actively search for a point of view and to develop upon what you consume that consuming can foster something in a creation. The way you put it it seems like you are just using it as an excuse to consume passively

he's a faggot who thinks contrarianism makes him interesting

>even if you were a neet you wouldnt create,
didn't say I would, if the solution were as easy as le just do it I wouldn't have a problem would i? dont type all that bullshit unless you have something to say

Just so I could give something back in return is all I don't want to be a "creator". Just consuming more and more without ever giving anything in return starts making me feel sick.

What keeps you from creating then? Please enlighten me
Give something back in return to who? The world? What in just consuming makes you sick?

>The world?
Pretty much, more the cultural cannon though. It makes me feel like I'm an outsider and a leech rather than an active part of what's happening

Creatimg to connect to the "cultural canon" isnt a thing
Aim for your local scene, and even there its hard to find someone who cares sometimes
The truth is most people dont want to listen to the music anon8576 is doing, they dont care. Do that keeps anon8576 from making music? No, but its good to align your expectations with reality. Few people create, fewer people create things that anyone else besides their mother gives a shit about, and fewer still create something that enters the cultural canon. But that doesnt keep people frkm creating. Creators dont create for the canon, they create because they must create, even if no one is there to see

Who said anything about music? I've never made anything of significance. Listing reasons why I'm never going to make anything doesn't make me feel any better about it.

Music was an example, anon8576 was an example. And I didnt list reasons why you wont do anything, stop projecting
My point is, and take that as an advice as somekne who makes creative stuff but was once like you, give up on this imagined idea of you as an important creator that actually never creates, and go have fun, challenge yiur friends to write a short story, collaborate with someone to make a song, I dont know
My point is that chances are few people wilk care for your art, but if you have friends that genuinely do, you can be pretty happy
My point is destroy any pretension you have of colaborating to the canyon of whatever even if you never lifted a finger, and sfart making shitty things everyday so one day you can make a good thing, and enjoy this proccess

>What keeps you from creating then?
how can you find the willpower to overcome your own lack of willpower

Canon, not canyon

You said people don't create because they want to contribute to cannon. That's a reason why I'll never create anything because theat's the only reason I'd want to make something in the first place. I don't have any friends and I don't enjoy the process

Maybe create with someone else? Collabs can be fun
Maybe seek professional help, therapy, meds etc
Maybe just dont rely on willpower but force yourself to build an habit out of creating or studying in order to create
Maybe set deadlines and goals, with a final product and minor landmarks along the way to keep track of progress

Dont you think its arrogance to suppose whatever you eventually create is worthy of being canonized?

I don't mean have it be canonised, I mean contribute to the greater whole in someway, even if it was just for whatever I made to be rejected or something.

i was friends with art school friends and they all hated to consume or even critique anyone else's work. because they're so bored of theirs. so be happy, your life is better this way. you can enjoy things sometimes

Ok, so first things first, WHAT do you want to create?
