There is this one friend of mine who said that the anime art style is ugly and same, even though she thinks that Steven Universe is one of the best cartoons ever. It's can be incredibly trope-heavy and the humour is often times one note an obnoxiously in your face. It doesn't help that it's endlessly posted, peddled and spammed by retards and it's always the faggiest anime on the market.
Usually when people paint 'anime' with a broad brush they're talking about exactly what you posted, moeshit, ecchi garbage, endlessly churned out Slice-of-Life and issekai. Of course there is plenty of based anime out there, you just need to push the moeblobs and boring self-insert protags out of the way to find it.
