Eventually you realize that the majority of women are only single because they want to be (either consciously or unconsciously). If they don't want to be single then they'll have a partner before they meet you, and if they do want to be single then they won't go out with you anyway.
Basically you're hoping to catch them in the small amount of time that they are single, and this is completely ignoring whether they are attracted to you in the first place.
