Anyone else knew right away that he was gonna be an issue for AEW? If so what gave it away?

When he beat Darby and then faked ring rust for the next few months.

His ego he thinks he's equal to John Cena and Roman and in a company like AEW he can piss over everyone without a strong leader like Vince who won't take his shit.

never thought it would be this fast. but i guess it was as soon as he came in if you consider colt's firing to be the beginning.

This

Vince carnied Phil so hard that it took him years to figure it out

He's been a cancer in every fed he's worked for.
You just know he would take AEW's antiwwe narrative to the max and sink his buzz sucking fangs into every trending talent so he could rebuild his ego and tell himself that he's a real wrestler again because some jap carried him to an above average match

>because some jap carried him to an above average match

Care to extrapolate

>Darby Allin
career was already stagnating being Sting's ring boy, but went crashing down the card immediately
>Powerhouse Hobbs
is literally just now recovering, team's gimmick was "we lose but you like us anyways" for months (seriously why didn't they win the belts)
>Daniel Garcia
had to be rescued by post bloat Jericho, but also will never draw a dime in his life, regardless of a Punk match
>Matt Sydal
KWAB
>Bobby Fish
KWAB
>Eddie Kingston
>d-don't worry guys, the next feud's definitely the one he's gonna win! for real this time!
>QT Marshall
>Lee Moriarty
where the fuck is my boy
>Wardlow
doing fine before and after, a rare case
>Shawn Spears
KWAB
>MJF
HEY PHIL
>MJF again but with a chain
came out fine, ironically just like Wardlow
>Dax Hardwood
KWAB
>Penta
Penta has pretty much been directionless his whole run
>Dustin Rhodes
it's fucking Dustin in 2022 who cares
>John Silver
they're not called the Dark Order for nothing
>Adam Page
HOLY KWAB

the only real derailments from Punk himself were Darby and Page, besides that it's mostly been AEW undercard syndrome

wants a match with Okada, Tanahashi, and Ospreay for no particular reason other than those three just so happen to be some of the top guys in New Japan and he wants to steal their buzz while they try to carry his unathletic ass

Why would they agree?

Dude has had "ring rust" for his entire career. It's almost unbelievable how he fooled smarks into believing that he's a great worker.

More proof that wrestling is more about personality than actual wrestling

>Lee Moriarty
>where the fuck is my boy
Named dropped by Danielson for Blackpool combat club: "What if we trained Yuta, Danielson, a guy like Lee Moriarty." Then stuck with Dante martin briefly, Sydal, Gresham/ROH hell, now in the new Stokley stable with Ethan Page and Ass boys.

his entire career and life up to that point

>Beats Kingston (and Darby has to job to MJF to keep him strong for Phil)
>Beats Wardlow
>Jobs to MJF with a ton of bullshit booking (and only drew 50k fans - and it was the lowest viewed episode of Dynamite since its move to TBS)
>Beats MJF at Revolution where the wins and losses matter the most.
>Morale in AEW goes down.
>Stories start to come out about how people are unhappy.
>Ratings go down despite being on a channel in more homes.
>Beats Hangman Adam Page, killing two years of storytelling and build and beating the first completely AEW original world champion.

>what gave it away?
His history of being a problem everywhere else he's been.

>Rejects it and makes more passive-aggressive comments.

But this isn't true, at the time AEW basically just said they couldn't justify paying that much money, this was a time when their TV deal was way worse than their current one so bringing in more high cost guys was a liability they didn't want to take.

Yeah because he's a petty bitch that always causes issues sooner or later
