I'm maxxing and I would like to go for a more intellectual style. What are some easy to read books and movies which will help me for that? I have barely read in my life more than this mongolian ib but I would like to change that
I'm maxxing and I would like to go for a more intellectual style...
guess everyone is dum dum here as well
Hello friend. I'm sorry so few people responded- but I left this board a few years ago, and became a better person, so I think I can help you.
> easy to read books and movies
all good things take work, user, but reading philosophy would help you quite a bit. /lit/ might be able to help you when you are more advanced (you will be soon).
I would suggest some Tolstoy, his short stories are very pleasing.
>How much land does a man need
>What Men Live By
Eventually you will develop a taste for longer novels, which is where the best stuff is. Anna Karenina was a personal favorite.
For philosphy, I would recommend Marcus Aurelius' meditations. Cliche and simple, but I think good for many on this board.
I love you user. The journey begins now :)
>I would like to go for a more intellectual style
I must also warn against this. Wanting the costume of an intellectual, without loving the knowledge is a good way to be humiliated as a fraud.
People who do this dont deserve to have access to knowledge in the first place
You're right, but how can they love wisdom if they say they're inexperienced with it? Either way, the uniform wearers will tire of the job with time anyways.
You don't need books to have intellectual thoughts you dumb faggot. You're already failing.
certainly not, but they help give perspectives and frameworks of thinking that you might not have had otherwise.
Where do you spend you time now, my fellow human man?
Well, I used to go rock climbing, attend social events with friends I had made, go to work, go to school, go skateboarding, read, etc
I'm obviously in a bad place again, that's why I'm here. But I'm confident it's transitory.
Full list of books in sticky.
Intellectuals don't need other people to tell them how to think or to form thoughts for them. That's not how this shit works. That's just fraudulent.
Plato was a student of Socrates, and later became teacher to Aristotle.
Many such cases.
Just read. Anything will do. It's about furnishing an inner-world of facts and viewpoints that engender conversation. The more you read, the more you'll have to talk about.
Doesn't even have to be books, you have the entire internet in front of you.

Aw shit that was fucking funny.
Stop talking like your high and mighty you nigger. Go back to Plebbit yellow boy. Can't even say the real site name because it's spam and jannies hate you faggots.
>HUR DUR IM FROM REDDIT
Raging homosexual.
Make me leave! I'd be glad for it!
I really need friends. I just have one and we have nothing in common besides our old job.
Did you actually make lasting friendships from skateboarding?
>I just have one and we have nothing in common besides our old job.
Doing more stuff together would make you have more things in common! Who knows, maybe you guys will meet other people too.
>Did you actually make lasting friendships from skateboarding?
I intentionally avoided it, since it was a solitary activity for me- but the skate community is super friendly and welcoming. be nice and welcoming too and they'll probably quite like you :)
try reading books that interest you but have older/bigger words in them! What I did when I first started reading was I read and annotated the entirety of the LOTR series, and other than my autism sperging on the plotline, I also highlighted every word I didn't know and wrote its definition down. If you're looking for like expanding your understanding that's a different thing, sorry, but if you just generally want to be more articulate and intellectual then expanding your vocab via books is a really fun way to go about it :))!
How old are you, wise user?
Which activities did you meet lasting friendships from?
