I found it quite difficult to know how to be around other families when I am a guest in other people's house. Similarly I was never really allowed guests over. I think my mother often resented being around other kids because she wanted more herself so now I never bring friends home or introduce my partners to them. I just don't know how to share my life with them because I never had the skills to do it. I was never allowed birthday parties for this reason too. We were also kinda broke growing up.
