Depends on the Vtuber, many of them are solely playing a character and have a production team behind them, so you're really just giving money to an actual product like you would pay for a movie ticket or give money to a musical artist you enjoy.
Giving money to an e-girl is completely inexcusable, you're giving it directly to them in the majority of cases, and are only encouraging whorish behavior.
