Want to get into philosophy

>want to get into philosophy
>most philosophyfags are only in it for the novelty or some kind of cope
>the few genuine philosophyfags don't even want to talk about it half the time

Wtf are you originally rambling about?

Just go on /lit/ and ask for recommendations.
Worked for me when I needed some more obscure books on psychology .

pretty sure /lit/ is who he was referring to in line2

/lit/ is pretty retarded so that's probably true

What do you think philosophy is? It's teasing out novel, consistent systems from nonsense and grounding them in normative copes.

Just go read stanford.plato and look up debates, reading about this shit is a waste of time.

/his/ has proven better for this in my experience, but that's not saying much.

>It's teasing out novel, consistent systems from nonsense and grounding them in normative copes.
That's only certain areas of philosophy.

Why is that funny?

>he isn't racist

You can't "talk about philosophy" without knowing at the very least the basics of it (logic, debating, thought process, what exactly is philosophy, etc)

beats the fuck outta me. user's probably just seeing things.

What exactly is it?

Get into it anyways. Unless you're doing it to impress someone there's no reason why you should reconsider just because of how other people feel about it.

Those are specific areas of philosophy. Not basics in the strictest sense.
>plus, neither of those posts said anything about this

>Unless you're doing it to impress someone
That's 90% of moderners.

>Unless you're doing it to impress someone
This is the feeling I got from reading ops post

I always considered philosophy something one can only get into for their own sake.
It's the only way it resonates with you and you can take something away from it

Never claimed I knew. Case and point: But the point still stands since I'm talking from experiences from my other interests. You can't discuss specifics about things you don't know.
It might seem like I'm a hypocrite, and I am......yes.

Having studied philosophy in an academic setting for many years with enthusiasm, I just don't find it interesting anymore. At best it allows me to hold a conversation with normies as it touches on every aspect of life in some way. But at the end of the day I'm inclined to quote Cioran when he says: "Reproach to science: this world is not worth knowing."

philosophy is a waste of time. you won't find out anything. best 'philosophy' ive read is just moody poetry that no sane person can appreciate.

>sane person
Sounds like Any Forums should get into philosophy then.
