It had some extremely based shit, but also a lot of shitty shit.

Kinda both? Like most wrestling shows, there was good stuff you tuned in for and bad shit you did not give a fuck about. The difference being the good stuff was innovative for the time. WWE ended up copying a lot of their concepts.

everything you see in modern wrestling started from there.

Watch Holiday Hell 96 if you are interested.

Ot was aew of its time. Just instead of being run by a money mark it was run by a smark jew.

>real music
>sluts and drugs
>dumb bumps and tons of blood
>unironically some of the best feuds, soap opera plots and swerves of the 90s
>party atmosphere
>good range of talent coming and going at least until 99
>better editing than any one hour wrestling show produced today
It was overwhelmingly based, and until Justin Credible's run the shitty shit was excusable because the other companies' shit was still worse. Basically, anything shit was due to someone being too pilled up or having a lack of talent when guys moved on. In the other companies, it was because they didn't know what to do with those guys they picked up

the opening of ECW TV will never get old

it was truly based, no BS. Why else would a dead fed still get so much love from fans? They still chant ECW at hardcore wrestling shows to this day even though there is no hope of the company itself coming back. That should tell you all you need to know.

It was more based than anything in wrestling before or since.

ECW Raven was my favorite wrestler of all time.

Enjoyed by fat sweaty smarks. Do-nothing losers with no life. Thought starting an ironic chant was an accomplishment. Everything King shot about in the 1997 "invasion" was true

Go to bed Jerry, you old pedo fuck.

It was based but then became dated. Society went so retarded that it circled back around to being based again.

bro this is hardcore as shit, great tv but hell for the performers

surely there's tons of ex workers who regret working there?

ECW has hardcore nostalgia vision. if you're watching it for the very first time in 2022 it's not going to knock your socks off, you're better off watching lucha underground

ECW gets a bad rep for being smarky mostly because of the filtydelphian subhumans. Fuck those troglodytes. Smarks have never enjoyed hardcore matches which ECW was built on. Plus they have angles and storylines like any traditional territories before them and wasn't just full retard workrate like ROH

how did it go out of business then?

Greatest ECW wrestler was Sabu. He is the one who really made it "extreme."

Homicidal, genocidal, botchicidal

>and we got some ugly skankasaurs who's gonna take 9 inches of black dick so far up her ass she won't know what hit her
kek

because Paul Heyman didnt want it to succeed long-term. His plan was always to sell ECW once it had gained enough value. He blames WCW and WWF for "stealing all his talent." However, that only happened because he stopped paying them. That in itself shows that he was just running ECW into the ground while extracting as much wealth as he could in the meantime. Once it came to a point where Vince Mcmahon was interested, heyman sold out quick.

Fun at the time because it was a new concept and showcased new styles of wrestling (hard core wrestling and cruiserweights from Japan and Mexico) but incredibly dated nowadays

I remember being surprised to learn that Vince was funding ECW in the shadows for quite a bit.

i can tell you arent an old school fan. Literally no one said this back in the day because he didnt actually botch very much. Its just that he often tried to do insanely crazy shit and once in awhile it didnt go as planned. The internet post-analysis of Sabu is based on a collection of those occasional botches, but that analysis ignores the fact that his matches were always kino.

didnt surprise me at all to be honest, although im surprised they admitted to it. Vince was losing to WCW (at least in the ratings) at the time and he needed an ace in the hole. ECW provided that, but once they became a WWE property it turned into a shitshow. That outlaw feel was gone, they introduced gimmicky shit that nobody wanted, and pushed the hell out of shitters like kevin thorn. The only real problem with the original ECW was the scumbag who owned it.

now that's Jewish
