DVDR Type group projects for Any Forums

Hey! I like the AEW pawg threads and console wars as much as the next guy, but Ive also noticed that there are weirdly well thought out comments on this board. I was wondering if anyone wants to do some kind of group project like the people on the dvdr board used to do. For those that dont know, they compiled lots of footage and had in depth discussions about the top wrestlers of all time, best territories of the 80s etc.

I was considering maybe a book club type situation with something like all the AAA tv that Roy Lucier uploaded or even the Fuller Alabama tapes. We could have a certain time where we would all get together and watch and then discuss or if some user has a drive of really cool tv we could discuss that.

My long term goal is to get the best people from the PW board and do a podcast where we can speak freely, without descending into any cringey smark sperging or hormone therapy speeches.

Sure but you should pick a time when we know to participate

Some of have day jobs where we can get away with shit posting but can't write thoughtful stuff abt good wrestling

sure! My thoughts were having live watch parties and then leaving the thread up during the week so people could contribute to the conversation. If anyone has any other suggestions on what to watch please reply. I really want to focus on good wrestling tv from the past, because I feel like thats an element missing from every promotion today.

I’d be interested. I have nothing to contribute but i would watch old tapes with you guys

Great! Please keep an eye on this thread. Should I start a discord or does everyone think we could do everything on this board?

As far as times for a live watch party, would people be down for 8pm on monday nights? Or are people really into wwe raw these days?

ALSO if there are spanish anons, please let us know if you would like to join us, because you could help us make sense of lucha and puerto rico stuff. (if we choose to do that, everyone please suggest what they think would be most fun to watch, because I know not everyone likes flippy-do wrestling)

Also I want to call this project tape machine!

Ok guys here are some potential options of what we can watch as our first project:

MID SOUTH 81-82 -I have a redubbed copy of this I got from XWT CLASSICS. I could upload an episode a week to a drive link and then delete it by the next week to save space. The positives of this promotion is there are lots of stars and its tony khans all time fav promotion so we can discuss what he's taking and what he's getting wrong. The downside is some of the actual wrestling might have aged poorly.

AAA LUCHA- years of this stuff has been uploaded to youtube by the great Roy Lucier. The positives of this promotion are its stuff most of us havent watched, but its in spanish which I assume most of us cant speak.

Contintental wrestling- This was the fuller's territory where Eddie Gillbert booked and a young Paul heyman learned the ropes. I dont know much about this company, but it has lots of mystique because they shunned the wrestling press because they thought it would kill their business.

WWC TV- Lots of this is on youtube, but like aaa there is a language barrier, although the work is less spot monkey riffic, and more punch kick.

Post replies about which show you guys want to watch most, or one's im forgetting that would even be better. Please make sure there are either youtube links, or you have the tvs on your hardrive and can upload a show a week.

Im thinking we can make all day monday a time where we can start discussing the week's episode, and 8pm if people want to do a live watch party for shitposting etc

If this happens I’m gonna tell the leftists like Bix that the podcast comes from a racist insurrection-supporting website.

Please do! Im black so it would be fun for me to troll Bix

mid south seems a good choice to me

we don't actually watch wrestling here pal

Mostly because Ryback is still gone. Once he comes back so will I.

Well now that you mention it I can probably translate some spanish content. I’m not exactly fluent but I speak it everyday and I edit videos alot. Totally would be down for some wwc and aaa.

Thats great! How about we do a 2 hour block every monday, and people can pick and choose if they want to watch both shows or just one. We'll do an hour of mid south and a spanish language one as well. I'll watch both because Im swearing off modern wrestling for the next few years because the internet gossip stuff is too addicting. We'll do a thing where we'll watch the shows cold and you can fill in the blanks on what we're missing for promos, or angles etc. Would you rather watch AAA or WWC?

Both are fine but im already familiar with wwc so maybe i can do a couple of those

Godamn an actual good idea on PW count me in pal

Great! We'll do WWC from the earliest 1980s we can find so we can follow along in chronological order and you can let us know what we're missing!
Welcome aboard pal! If you have any other wrestling buddies try and let them know!

Here are some channels that have wwc videos i found real quick but none are really organized

reminder that the DVDVR nerds were the biggest loser. most obese, and most autistic wrestling fans in the history of the "IWC"

They aren't big dick Chad's like us tho

OK guys, we'll start with 1981 mid south and 1986 wwc for the manliest sleaziest wrestling the 80s has to offer. I'm going to have links and show reviews up every Monday and there will be live watch parties when raw starts. If anyone has any other neat ideas, please contribute! Hopefully we can all enjoy peak 80s wrestling while the world burns

I know wwc is bilingual so do you need me to translate the first video or no?

If there's something we're missing you can fill us all in. Eg cultural stuff backstory etc. Also hope the Puerto Rico user who was posting links a while back can find his way in here
