ASMR is a corrupted tag that was ruined by coomers pretty much on day 1. The term ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, which is a strong electric-like sensory phenomenon felt in the forehead and scalp when your brain hears a sound that it thinks is very close. But it became briefly trendy and a generation of people read the word "tingles" and formed this incorrect idea that it's metaphorical or that it refers to the warm happy feeling they get listening to a girl whispering into a microphone. Now there is no actual ASMR triggers, just weird porn shit, and virtually nobody who says ASMR is actually referring to the real sensory phenomenon.

There's a french term, 'Frissons', that has described the phenomena and has existed for thousands of years. I just use that.

Literally every source that differentiates between ASMR and Frissons is nonscientific and is to the tone of, "frissons are arousal and asmr is relaxation, but both are generally felt along the neck and scalp" which strikes me as a crock of shit.
My personal experience is that they precisely feel exactly the same, except in one case I'm listening to music or experiencing something particularly impactful, and in the other I'm getting a haircut or listening to someone's heels click in a quiet library.
