Anyone else who doesn't get the hype behind Elden Ring? I think the souls games are okay but the way people act like this game is the second coming of Christ is beyond obnoxious.
Anyone else who doesn't get the hype behind Elden Ring...
me. its more dark souls rehash. streamers need to hype it up though cus its their job
I hear they're saying it's gonna be like DS2, which is fantastic. I'll probably buy Elden Ring 5 years after it's popular and discounted like I did with all the rest of the souls games.
I felt that but with lost ark, the game reminds me of browser MMOs from 2012 that maybe had one good mechanic but in general was pretty meh. the second I saw the initial map and NPC screen I quited the game, and a cousin also pointed it lacks the presence of ramdon mobs around like diablo and any rpg has. So idk why all the hype behind it
Its hard to say what is hype(fabricated or real) and actual interest, people like jumping on stuff, but also streamers/journos are paid to hype it up.
It looks like yet another souls clone, take the same story, same enemies, same characters even (this one is the funniest to me,
we havent seen an original character in souls since the beginning, yet people disregard this obvious copypase)
and just rename them. Its that simple, people will lap it up. I only hope gameplay is further improved, at least DS2 and BB tried to change it up a bit.
it's because it's a AAA game from a studio that generally doesn't fuck up that hard in an era where most major releases are complete, messy flops
lost ark was always a meme however. shit is just a worse path of exile
not to mention it's korean jank.
The game looks fucking incredible. It's literally a Souls game with open-world mechanics. Fromsoft also has a fucking UNREAL track record. They have not made a bad game since Miyazaki took over, literally not even ONE. If you're not excited then you're not a fucking Dark Souls fan.
>it's gonna be like DS2
You heard wrong. This is an actual Miyazaki game unlike DS2 so it will be like literally every Souls game besides that one.
I have never played any Souls or souls-type game before.
I meant the physics and movement and whatnot combined with the weapon and armor variation are going to be like DS2 from what people have to say about the trailer, which is the only relevant part of the game to me. I don't care if miyazaki works on it lol.
Its because there is literally no other good games coming out soon. Down syndrome horizon is trash. People need to play sth
Still no. If you didn't like the backflips and acrobatic shit in DS3 then this game will trigger you. This game has more of that then any Souls game ever.
dark souls but open world, what's not to love?
sounds horrible lol
>backflips and acrobatic shit
That's not really what I meant by it being like ds2 physics, but if you can really do those kinds of things, then cool. Ds3 was a major letdown because every weapon and armor piece was the same and the sanic shit was annoying and led for bad pvp.
From what I hear, they're fixing those issues in the same way that ds2 did.
I mean DS was already fantasy but this game is HIGH fantasy. I mean it literally has a rideable horse that can fucking double-jump and glide. I personally liked the DS3 physics a lot so I know I will love this game.
Ohhhhhh okay. Yeah I heard that too the PVP looks fucking sick. That's the only thing I really liked about DS2, the weapons were really fucking creative and unique. This one looks pretty similar, they seem to have put in less weapons but made the ones that ARE there really nuanced. Kind of like Bloodborne.
The open world aspect sucks. The only good open world game in the last 15 years was the original Dark Souls and that's because it had the balls to not let you teleport from the start. When you were deep in Blighttown for the first time you couldn't just conveniently leave and come back. It was a fucking journey and the satisfaction when you come out the other side and realize you're 2 short elevator rides away from Firelink is one of the highlights of videogames as an artform.
I thought if anyone had the balls to make open worlds feel dangerous and interesting again it was Fromsoft, but they've fallen for all the latest lazy design trends. Warp points everywhere, crafting, a mount that you can just instantly summon, nights that are just a blue tint instead of actually being dark or affecting the gameplay. Also they've carried over all the worst aspects of Dark Souls 3. Non-stop invasions, spammable healing items with no risk, rolls that cost nothing and give huge invulnerability windows.
I'll still buy it and play it day 1 but the only part I'm looking forward to is the castles and dungeons that look like more traditional souls gameplay. Any time spent running across a field looting flowers is going to be a snoozefest.
Are people hyping it? I don't watch faggy twitch streamers, maybe that's why. I ordered it since it comes out on my birthday, but my room got wrecked by a burst water pipe, so I won't be able to play it for a few weeks.
>Anyone else who doesn't get the hype behind Elden Ring?
I get the hype, but I won't play it myself.
I hope it is good though so people enjoy it, and I'm looking forward to watching people play it on YouTube.
