Skill over enough games

>it involves cards
its luck

Both, originally randomblah

Poker is a mind game. If you go in thinking its purely about probability or luck, like, you're never going to win. You have to be able to read people and bluff.

texas hold em takes skill but luck helps alot

sure there is skill. But compared to games like chess you see how much luck is a determiner in poker.

Is Phil Helmuth still in it? JHC that crybaby needs to retire. Even when I used to watch it a decade ago, he was a huge whiney ass.

I dare you to play a game against poker champs. Luck doesn't make you a champion.

If I get a good hand I'll win simple as.

Mixture of both. Either way it's boring.

Also poker poker champions are champions because they have enough money to burn on the game and can keep a straight face, other than that it's all luck.

>An AI can be created which consistently beats out professionals which consistently win tournaments where players congregate from around the world to play in.
Total chance.

It's both, but imo it's more skill based. If it was entirely luck based you would never see the same people make it to the championships every year.

They actually made a chess AI but they thought could beat all the top players, all the top players actually beat it. Chess is 100% skill poker is not so I'm having some doubts about your story.

Be awesome at maths and bullshitting. I remember a few years ago some jagoff wore super dark sunnies and a massive boonie hat all the time on world series and it pissed everyone off

skill predominantly

And that's not true, even Stockfish beat GMs pretty easily, not to mention AlphaZero.

Depends. That kind of poker, where you just get two cards and the rest are on the table, is luck. Where the player input comes is in concealing your luck from the other player.

Second this, seasoned pros know advanced arithmetic and probability. No fucking way you make millions by luck, try using that logic on roulette and see how that works for ya

Yeah but if you look too confident then they'll fold and you won't be able to push them to keep betting.
