I mean this in complete sincerity, why the fuck did everything go to shit in AEW the second he left? I'm a Codychad for life and I fucking love this guy, but I can't get over how you can almost pinpoint the downfall of AEW to his departure.
I mean this in complete sincerity, why the fuck did everything go to shit in AEW the second he left...
It's AEW's Fingerpoke of Doom
He recognized a sinking ship.
It's 10x better since this self mark faggot left
I 100% disagree
>Injuries
>Tony being a mark and putting his childhood idols and EX- WWE guys over instead of homegrown talent
>Tony not knowing how to book a storyline/ angle properly
>Tony sprreading his legs and bowing down to twitter
>Lack of Kenny Omega and the Joshis he loves so much
>Sammy Guevara
>Tony not knowing how to deal with criticism like taking out the only heels who actually got heat because "muh controversy"
Also just pointing out, the worst storylines AEW had before Cody left were protagonized by the Codester and his wife, so much that the crowd started booing and Cody being a bitch left to the E despite being the one who brought the whole Us vs Them angle as appointed by everyone including himself,.
also
>internet tribalism
really ruins the experience, it's like ordering pizza with a bitch constantly crying on how nasty it is on your ear
agree to disagree
You can pinpoint AEW's decline to the introduction of Rampage, the reign of Hangman and the overpushes of Adam Cole and CM Punk. Cody has nothing to do with any of these and for all his good points was himself actively dragging the show down with his awkward booking.
You know the 3-star General Nickname: Turns out those don't exactly grow on trees. Especially one's that know how to tell an actual story and not this "just in the ring" smark shit.
>Also just pointing out, the worst storylines AEW had before Cody left were protagonized by the Codester and his wife
Not trying to stoke flames here, but what stories were shit? I'll give you the Ogogo one but legitimately everything else that comes to mind you can chalk up to Tony's booking.
When Hangman won the strap it all went downhill.
true, so can we all agree that Tony is mentally unprepared to be a booker?
It didn't, it's been a slow burn of injuries so the top guys have not been on the show together all year and and feuds that go on too long.
>Jericho and Kingston has been going on FOR EIGHT MONTHS and is only just now looking like it might end.
>HoB and DT couldn't do the planned PPV so they just stalled until DoN
>Punk and Danielson injured around then too.
>MJF's weird shit is causing an air of constant speculation
And the pacing being fucked up cuz Jericho's shit has been going on so long with so much time means that the setup for the build to DoN was hella rushed, the last 2 episodes could easily have been 4.
>Forbidden Door was a runaway success
Enjoy the rematch against Seth "0-3" Rollins
It's a few PPV after Cody left that the downfall began, it went to their heads
Cody going "I'm gonna get all this hollywood and showbiz out of me" then just not was hot garbage. Then after that there was basically no story just feeble attempts to get himself over by doing stupid shit with Andrade and Sammy. The story for Cody going for the belt was "I'm challenging you X time, be ready"
Cody was a cancer that needed removing and now the healing can begin.
The big issue is that AEW has actual pillars that carried the company, Jericho, Moxley, Omega, and MJF.
Anything worth anything in the company revolves around those 4 men throughout the entire company’s existence.
2 of those pillars are gone and the company is presently hobbling on whatever Mox/BCC or Jericho/JAS are doing.
Doesn't he have a release clause after one year anyway? He could be gone after Wrestlemania and back to AEW if he wants.
>tfw every week that passes the cleaner is that little bit closer to returning.
Save us Cleaner.
AEW is definitely not as good as it was a year ago. But to act like it's 2016 monday night raw is a bit much.
Taking the codiverse away from aew was the first nail in the coffin.
>2019 - EVPs are in charge creatively, Tony mostly a passive owner
>2020 - Tony starts getting involved creatively and with talent
>2021 - EVP's start getting less involved. Tony starts booking the womens division over Kenny, Bucks are still involved with tag division, Cody only really involved with the Codyverse and thats it.
>2022 - Cody goes. Tony in full control.
That's why.
The only thing that ran away after Forbidden Door was your milly.
The Four Horsemen of the AEWpocalypse:
>AEW gets a second show with Rampage even though everyone says they're not ready for one, CM Punk debuts during the second episode. He does not bring in the ratings they expect after that initial debut.
>Danielson and Adam Cole debut on the same night, bringing in an era of ex-WWE markdom
>Cody leaves, creative and talent is entirely in Tony's hands. Cody begins to get more over in WWE.
>Vince steps down, Triple H takes over, all the Haitch boys wish to return
Cody saw who was getting hired.
