some companies have poor management and oversite and dont notice all the people dragging their feet and just assume its normal. Also they are probably looking for anyone with a pulse currently willing to work for low pay.

You've just discovered the main flaw of wage based work. People have no incentive to perform above the bare minimum.

Livin' the dream, bro! The majority of anybody's time in most jobs, but particularly offices, is wasted. You could finish whatever "work" it is you're apparently paid for, but sitting out your time is what you're judged on. There are some people who do no useful work at ALL, for YEARS! It will take time to reach that stage however, time and careful observation, which is something you can do while you're not doing work.

That's cos a monkey got the job. Don't worry, lots of people apply for each job, it's not like the "objective best" is the one who gets it every time. Just how it goes. No judgement against you.

One thing you learn really quick working a rudimentary office job is that the bar for competence for the average employee is so in the dirt that if you are any way capable you're going to blow everyone else out of the water on the simple virtue of showing up regularly.

Honestly with music and shit it feels like a really long workout and it pays good at least. It is a miracle anything arrives to me. Like with how we treat boxes and shit. Some people get angry and go postal on the boxes and will break your stuff for fun. Never mail a personal, fragile gift. Some people go out of their way to test the definition of fragile. And every company uses the other so who you mail through does not matter.
