If you're poor and can't afford a regular house, why not get one of these bad boys? i don't see the issue

Trailers are about as expensive as a house these days. Even tiny homes cost as much as what a regular home did not too many years ago.

Why not just live in a van or live in the woods?

I think it would be better to build out a van or something and be mobile.

>Why not just live in a van
does it have plumbing?
what is your source of electricity? gasoline?

>or live in the woods?
no internets?

While still costly, the price of the house itself isn't usually the problem when trying to get one. The real problem is buying the LAND the house is on. It's the price of land that's going up, and the houses are on it. It's only going to get worse. Corporations are going to keep buying up land, and eventually it will be too late. >Trailers are about as expensive as a house these days
doesn't seem to be the case. unless you're talking about a crack shack. trailers are well under $50k, typically

yeah but if you buy empty land it's way cheaper to get a mobile home instead of pay someone to build an entirely new house on it

depreciating asset

you're going to be living in it though

Maybe it depends on the area. A trailer in my area costs about as much as an older home now.

>buying land
It costs an arm and a leg for any decent amount. If it's land in a good spot it's even more expensive. This would only work if you wanted to live out west or somewhere else in the middle of nowhere,
>Checked land prices near me. Cheapest land that you could put a trailer on was 25k for 5 acres. May as well save for a house at that point.

You can get prefabs

>It costs an arm and a leg for any decent amount
you don't need to fit a trailer and then have some space to park a car

> 25k for 5 acres
5 acres is overkill. my parents' first house had 1 acre and that was quite a bit. 2nd house didn't even have 1 acre, the house [including pool and garage] took up 90% of the space of the land, but it was a subdivision

5 acres? that's a lot, it's about 1,600 x 1,600 (potatoes)

>it's about 1,600 x 1,600 (potatoes)
per acre*
so multiply that by 5

I didn't look very hard, but I didn't see any smaller land for sale. There was a 1740 acre area for $2,000,000 though.
You might be able to negotiate, but I doubt it.
>picrel is another piece of land from my area that you could actually put a trailer on.

This thread makes me wonder
Could you buy a piece of land and do stuff on it to make the surrounding neighborhood have lower property value?

>i dont see the issue
they are actually quite fragile and you end up spending a surprising amount maintaining them unless you like living in a dilapidated piece of shit.

You could, but you'll be fined by the city, or some group of old people with nothing to do. You wouldn't be able to get away with it if the land is in a nicer area.
>t. accidentally ruined some sidewalk, didn't get caught, and narrowly avoided a fine.

renting single rooms from old people is impossible, there aren't any and people here don't have connections

also, sharing living space is a bad idea for anyone that does drugs. just being a tobacco smoker, even if i smoke outside people hate it

It's cheaper to build a nice cabin and it will last a lot longer.

>It's cheaper to build a nice cabin
what if you can't build it yourself

if you can't build it yourself, another option is a barndominium. You can hire a crew to put up the shell in a week. Anyone should be able to hang up some drywall and stain the concrete. If you physically can't, hire illegals to do it for next to nothing. Trailers are built like shit and will not last your entire life.

If you bring someone normal (middle class or above) back to your house and they see you have a trailer they will either not respect you (male) or never be attracted to you (female).

Houses like that exploded in my popularity in recent years. They cost a fortune now and you're stuck on a multi year waiting list.

i was living on my own, renting, as a coder and i smoked meth every day for about a year straight. it's no issue, it actually makes working halfway bearable.

and if you buy it in ounces or quarter lbs at a time it's like a $1-2 per day habit, less than what beer drinkers or cigarette smokers spend.

to be fair though i was taking amphetamine almost daily for like 4-5 years straight and only started taking meth because the supply line from europe got fucked up once the covid hysteria began
