My family moved to the capitalist US of A, maybe I'll get some capital and move back to Russia and do something with it. Maybe I'll fund a Russian empire revivalist party. Such a pity Russian culture was garnering respect, ballet, music, literature, art ect. Of course commies had to come and make Russia the soulless shell it is today. I can only hope the legacy of communism shall be forgotten in Russia and that the future be inspired by true Russian culture! (anything before 1917)

There are almost no locations in the United States today where you can simply buy property and build houses on it and sell them. In my state, you cannot build *anything* - houses, barns, commercial property, industrial property - without an Act 250 review that empowers an entire host of government officials to slow you down and stop you, and you have to secure permission from *all* of them to do *anything*. We have the closest thing to communitarian control of property that has ever existed anywhere on Earth. And so naturally almost nothing gets built.

Actually, even if you trust and believe Soviet era economic statistics, the growth rate in Russia from 1870 to 1914 absolutely blows them away.

The entire reason the First World War started when it did is because Germany thought that if they gave the Czar 20 more years to develop they would get buried.

It took until the late 30's for the Communists to merely return to the GDP that Russia had in 1914.

Oh yes father used to show me old soviet films. A lot of them used Russian fairy tales as an inspiration. Quite ironic for a regime that tried to destroy Russian culture. Russia before the revolution was steadfast on becoming the most powerful nation, do you know why Germany declared war on Russia?
