rest days are good man. at least for weight lifting. i lift every other day and am progressing much better than the 5-6 days i used to be doing. less stress, less burnout, lifting heavier, more time for other hobbies. dare i say it, rest days are in fact based.
but i also work in construction/manual labor so a "rest day" for me still includes 8 hours of physical labor, just not lifting weights
