Any of you guys ever finish college? Is the job search as bad as they say it is?

Graduating in may with no internships or relevant experience, how fucked am I?

Get a job pepe

Yes, and it's actually worse than they say it is. Applying for jobs is hopeless and pointless. If you don't know somebody who is just going to give you a job because you know them, there is ZERO hope.

>is the job search as bad as they say it is
no
>no internships or relevant experience, how fucked am I?
yes

I had a job working on a farm but nothing in my major

Thats what i figured. Ill probably be working some shitty warehouse job after i graduate

I got extremely lucky. If you are not in compsci (biology, chemistry); git gud at python / javascript / lua / julia / r / something. It saved me.

>job search
I think that really depends on what field you studied and what, if any, head hunter assistance your school offers. My nephew just graduated from an engineering school in Rolla, MO and he had a permanent job before his graduation ceremony. Job was in his hometown even. Shit was kino.

>if your degree isn't code, learn to code anyway
Disgusting, but it is actually the only advice that gives anyone even a remote shot at getting a decent job. Code shit is the literal only kind of real career anymore.

Im in math and know some python (sagemath) and R

No my uni does nothing like that. we are the lowest tier only reason people go here is because of how cheap it is. Now i see why people spend money to go to places like northwestern or some shit. Still graduating with 40k in the bank cant complain. I can be a neet for a few years off that

make sure you put projects on your resume. Especially python stuff that shit is golden

yes, i finished my degree in multimedia(photoshop, illustrator adobe programs) to find out i need a real degree.

i had a job at a good insurance company but they made changes lade a bunch of people off got rid of departments.

you think its worth it to learn vba or something? Im only part time this semester so i have some time.

What insurance company? I was thinking about doing underwriting/actuarial. Probably underwriting though entry level actuarial seems so saturated

Also how bad do you guys think it is to just say fuck it and go back packing this summer and worry about trying to get a job after. Thats what Im planning on doing

I never finished college, I'm poor.

i dropped out after a couple of years and now have been working near minimum wage for 6 years lol

i could apply for backbreaking labor and make a lot more but screw that. i should have stuck with it

If your over 25 or something you can call yourself independent for fasfa and get pretty much everything paid for if you pick a cheap college. Thats in america at least idk where youre from

I dropped out after 3 years initially too. Was in pretty rough shape as a neet in and out of mental hospitals for like 5 years. Even had a brief stint in the military that didnt end well. Went back to school 2 years ago and did pretty good this time around. Its never too late to go back if you want user

I want to study business and marketing at a higher end college next year, the only real issue is that the work load is fucking insane on top of work, my ex also goes to the same college which is fucked.

I don't know what I want to do with my life, any other anons been in the same situation?

What college? But ya the work load is bad even at my shitty uni. You will probably be working 24/7 during the semester if you want to do the best. Especially having a part time job you will have no life. I wouldnt worry about your ex though probably wont even see them.

But ya im in the same boat idk what i really want to do with my life. I guess just find any job so my gf doesnt think im a loser and leave me when i finish uni

Got a meme degree (non-STEM) and graduated without an internship or any experience except for a little bit of volunteering. It took me 4 months to get any offer ($8.50 an hour, 40 hours a week; I quit on the first day). I got extremely lucky a month later with an offer from a real job.

All I can say is make your resume ideal and start throwing resumes left and right. The job search is a pain in the ass and can take a long time, especially with nothing but the degree in hand.

Whatd you do for volunteering like relevant stuff or just for fun? I do some stuff for habitat but idk if i should put it on because its in no way relevant

>Any of you guys ever finish college?
Yes. I have a biomedical science degree. Graduated in December.
>Is the job search as bad as they say it is?
Depends on your area and how good your resume is. Personally, I hate how agonizingly slow the process is. HR fuckers take way too long to message you (or ghost you) after your first application. I got a job about 30 days after graduating and then quit after the first day because the pay was shit and the commute was ridiculous. Now I've been unemployed for a week and have another job interview tomorrow.
>Graduating in may with no internships or relevant experience, how fucked am I?
Yikes bro. You're not super fucked, but experience is very relevant.

I know its not ideal, but i mean i could always do an internship after i graduate or something. And i would say im a decent programmer so thats somewhat relevant experience right?

>i could always do an internship after i graduate or something
This is mostly pointless unless it's a paid internship and it provides great experience. Otherwise, just get a job.
>And i would say im a decent programmer so thats somewhat relevant experience right?
Unless you have a programming experience to put on your resume, this will have a minor impact. You can put programming in your "Skills" section, but employers want to see real employment.
