"identity" is a concept to break someone away from their surroundings.
you want to break a village, convince the villagers they're independent and worthy to rule said village moreso than the leadership.
you want to break a son away from his father, offer alternatives that seem novel and counter to his father at the right age and you now have a rebellious teen, untethered.
who you are is exampled in your actions. your thoughts, if you wish to share them. but they must come from within, to have been thought on, both the actions and their consequences as well as the thoughts and their elaborations. outside influence is inevitable BUT it mass pass through you and become your own.
