I also did this until I got sick of having to get my grip perfect on every lift to stop the bar tilting forward or backwards, which is especially annoying with straps.

It's solid for squats kinda, not so much for actual Deadlift though. Hits hamstrings and back less well. You don't have to do any specific exercise though. If you like trap bar pulls, do them.
