Punk was set up perfectly to be the next anti-hero break out personality after the pipebomb and walking out. But in the span of three weeks after that he won the belt. He had already climbed the mountain instead of chasing the belt how Austin had. A re-retiring (in 2011 wtf) Gaitch booked himself over punk, didn't job back, and put Punk in a stupid feud with Nash slowing down momentum. We all thought WWE was changing but we realised we were wrong. They had lightning in a bottle as the mikebomb sent shockwaves throughout media in a time where no one cared about wrestling for over a decade. They wondered if it was a shoot, something the industry didn't have for over ten years. WWE creative heads squandered the easy lay up because they're inept and spiteful. Disgraceful
