Late 90s, probably around 1998. Wrestling was so popular you couldn't go to school or walmart without seeing multiple kids/people in wrestling shirts. Around this time I got decent internet for the first time and started learning about japanese wrestling, everything felt new and fresh and I've never been that interested in wrestling since.
1999 my favorite in hindsight with the corporation and ministry storylines, but 2000 was the last great year for me and the peak of my interest. i stopped watching regularly in late 2000 (no real reason, I had just been watching for 3 years hardcore by that point). Didnt watch much in 2001
Summer of 1992

Late '99 until WM X-7
WWF? July 1999. End of Austin/McMahon. End of Corporate Ministry. Within a three month span the main event changed completely. The company went public. Russo/Ferrara left. Smackdown became weekly and diluted the product. Stephanie became a member of creative. Austin/Taker/Foley were gone and replaced by Gaytch/Jericho/Angle.
Monday Night Wars as a whole? July 1998. Both companies were neck-and-neck. The wars were at the peak total viewership. WWF had Austin/McMahon, Foley vs Taker/Kane, DX at their peak. WCW had NWO/Wolfpac, Rodman/Malone, and Goldberg vs Hogan in the Georgia Dome.
