It was originally supposed to go an hour but Vince was a retard and wanted something stupid like the Ironman gimmick behind it, instead of just having them go the hour.
Once there were no pins in like 30 minutes, everyone knew where it was going. Would make more sense as a regular match that just kept going long and that both guys were evenly matched.
