The problem as I see it with most of the keto crowd is they tend to restrict protein way too heavily because "muh ketosis" when the real issue is they don't want to exercise and put in the work. Their bodies would be fine with the negligible amount of carbs from gluconeogenesis if they literally exercised at all, but they instead obsess over staying in medical ketosis like some weird cult, "if the ketone strips aren't blah blah"... You shouldn't have to track your diet with constant biomarkers to make it work unless you actually have a medical condition and are using ketosis to treat it. But instead they deny the existence of CICO because keto boosts metabolism a bit and shovel processed garbage into their mouths because "it's keto so it's healthy!!!" a chip is still a chip... None of this means a keto style diet can't be effective for weight loss, but it gets really culty really quick with some of these fuckers who unironically think fruit is bad for you. But to answer your question, depends. It can raise cholesterol if that's something you worry about, it probably isn't the best thing to be doing while pregnant, it isn't optimal for kids, and while I doubt eating veggies and fatty meats is that bad for you, processed keto junk food shit that's "healthy!@!111!!1!!!!!:))))" just because it's low carb is absolutely trash healthwise. Most of the people who post about keto here are just seething or looking to cause a ruckus though.
