Does whey protein kill your kidneys?

>inb4 abuse and flaming
I've been working out for three months.
Skinny fat, 6'2, 180 pounds. I've put on some decent muscle on my arms and my lifts have been improving. But my chest and belly's still flabby af.
I'm in college so I can't really cook chicken or sausage or steaks every day. Will whey be a good substitute if I drink 2 scoops a day? I'm a hypochondriac desu I'm scared I'll die from a kidney failure.

Nothing more than a mere myth. You will be fine

thank you random internet stranger

But I looked it up online about how whey thrashes your kidneys. And my nurse aunt works dialysis, she says she'll tell my mother I'm taking steroids if I buy whey. I made the mistake of asking her for advice and she sent two huge ass texts about how whey will make my kidneys weaker and ruin my liver too ://///

Not OP, but what whey should I buy? Isolate blend concentrate etc etc and what brand do I choose?

As long as you limit your intake of protein, you'll be fine. But it's up to you fren, whatever makes you feel comfortable.

Wheybolic is pretty good

Your aunt sounds annoying user but she is looking out for you.
Thx I'll see if they have chocolate

I only eat whey in something like yoghurt or flapjack rarely drink it anymore

You’ll be fine. Make sure to stay hydrated. That will help your kidneys function properly.

protein makes your kidneys work harder but it makes them work harder in a good way and will strengthen them. I have like 4-6 scoops a day for years and last year when I had my kidneys checked they were healthier than my gp had seen in her entire career.

What does this mean?
So there's a chance my kidney goes kaput?

Don't drink more than 30g of protein In one sitting and properly dissolve your powder, you won't have any digestive problems

I mean this with sincerity but your aunt is a midwit nurse who doesn't know what she is talking about evident by the fact she thinks whey is a steroid.

How do I properly dissolve my powder?
No she knows whey isnt steroids, she says that because my mom wouldn't know the difference. She's using my mom's ignorance against me ://

High protein intake in general harms your kidneys over time. Source - I always heard this but didn't believe it, just got told recently I've had a 14% reduction in kidney function over the past 2 years since I upped my protein intake trying to put on some muscle.
>protein makes your kidneys work harder but it makes them work harder in a good way and will strengthen them
This is bullshit. You're using the logic from muscle function and applying it to kidneys despite the fact they don't work that way.

Then educate your mom. Also you're obviously underage

Woops meant for sh2wy

get your kidneys checked

if they are fine, you can eat a high protein diet, if they aren't then you can't

>I've had a 14% reduction in kidney function

The only way to tell this is collecting your urine over a day and having it analyzed. EGFR / creatinine is an inaccurate marker for kidney function, especially among people that exercise or take creatine.

Blood markers only provide enough evidence for further investigation, they do not provide conclusive proof of kidney dysfunction. If you exercise and break down your muscles, you will have elevated blood markers, it doesn't mean your kidney function is reducing.

Doctors are astoundingly retarded and barely competent, you have to go to a specialist for even mildly competent medical professionals.

So I shouldn't take whey?
No shes not gonna listen. She wouldn't know.

I honestly don't care. 3 scopes a day, every day, if I die, good, I lift for suicide prevention anyway

No and drink water frequently if you're worried about kidney stones.
