I got a nasty shiner two days ago from something stupid.
I went to get it checked by the doctor and he found 2 fractures in my orbital bone. Because of this, he doesn’t want me doing any heavy lifting for a month while my eye heals.
A month is a long fucking time to be out of my workout routine. I don’t want to lose a lot of the progress in the last year. What can I do to avoid losing my gains?
Why all these duplicate threads? It's like every thread gets posted atleast twice

Don’t follow what your (((doctor))) told you, simple as >It worked for me
Samuel Rogers
It’s not, yesterday I just wanted to know if I should wait to work out because of my eye. Now the doctor has ordered me to not lift heavy for the next month and I’m trying to figure out the best way to stay in shape and keep the gains I’ve made
Chase Martin
So you broke your orbital too and working out wasn’t a problem?

I’ve stopped taking my AIDS medication and I’m still alive What does your eye has to do with your muscles? Does it hurt your eye when you do anything with your arm?
Sebastian Jackson
The doctor was saying that since lifting requires straining, if I strain too hard, there’s a chance that the muscles in my eye could get caught in the fractures, which would then require surgery to release.
I don’t currently need any surgery, but in that worst case scenario, I would. He also said that any straining would cause more blood to rush to my eye and make the swelling and bruising worse.

That’s a risk you gotta decide if you’ll take it or not. Maybe if you don’t work out too hard or hard at all, just doing enough to keep your muscles hot and not atrophying? If you think doing this is dangerous, I completely understand you. Surgery sucks, for sure. 1 month is not bad, actually. Think about it as 4 weeks. Your muscles have that memory and such, keep your good alimentation and wait for the healing, if that’s the case.

cardio and light weights you only lost your shit when you stop moving get to work faggot

I’m far less worried about making the swelling and bruising worse. It’s just a black eye and it’s gonna be ugly for a couple more days regardless. I just want to make sure I don’t need surgery, if I can avoid it.

Glad you got it checked. Dr. is right that a strong increase in BP could cause issues (further inflammation and pressure moving bones or on nerves. You can likely do your normal exercises at 50% the first week and increase to your normal level by the end of the month period. If you feel pulsing/throbbing in your eye stop, take a break and bring your BP down. Also cool compress on the eye and in a couple of days don't be surprised at how gross your skin looks. remember a temporary set back is frustrating, but permanent damage is worse.
Caleb Clark
Thanks for the advice. I’ll definitely be following it and keeping an eye on any throbbing or increased blood pressure.
> Also cool compress on the eye and in a couple of days don't be surprised at how gross your skin looks.
Gross how? Just like color wise or will the skin itself in be rough shape? The doctor gave me the impression that my eye should be looking normal again in a few days…

There are stages to bruises. You should expect to see the color change, the breakdown of fluids and possibly skin weeping because of how much fluid is in the affected area. Your bruise is complicated and runs through all the layers of the skin and into the myofascial tissue. In other words it's big, deep and dense. Your body will break it down as it heals the area and it may feel lumpy and hard to the touch in some areas. Meanwhile your skin may feel limp and as it releases fluid there could be an external wetness. You may also have draining in your sinuses.
Joshua Garcia
Holy shit that’s wild. I never knew all that. Hard to believe at that is going to happen in the span of a week.
> In other words it's big, deep and dense.
It is only going to take a week to look normal again, right? The doctor had said that’s the normal timeline for most black eyes
Jaxon Morris
A month is nothing bro. Your body isn't just gonna revert back lol. Just don't fuck up and start drinking or eating like shit and you'll be fine.
