Any Forumsbros, have any of you ever come back from a herniated disk to lift again? 4 years ago I herniated mine so bad I went from front squatting 335 to not even being able to squat 135 without significant pain, is there any way to fix it? I can manage it enough to be able to do sports like boxing but any heavy compression on it just hurts so bad bros.....

I currently have a 4mm herniated disc between l5-s1 and my doc tells me eventually I can lift again but i'll have to be a lot more cautious.

If yours still hurts then you need to take time off to let it recede. If you put pressure on it it will get worse, the only way to get better is avoid activities that cause pain.

If cortison shots and rest don't work out there's always surgery, this is a last ditch effort but this guarantees that you can get back into lifting (usually pain free) pretty fast.

>take time off to let it recede.
so uh, I've basically taken the past 4 years off, and while it's gotten better from stretching in the sense I can do bjj and boxing, it's never healed enough to lift heavy again. although I've never seen a doctor or gotten imaging done, so maybe it's full on cracked or something? I don't have the money to pay for an MRI

You walked around with a slipped disc for 4 years and never once considered you need assistance from a doctor?

Americans are truely cursed folk.

Get fucking insurance, get to a neurosurgeon and get operated. If you ignore this it will go permanent and straight into permanent degenerative disk disease or worse, permanent nerve damage in the form of paralysis.

>never once considered you need assistance from a doctor?
well, I considered it but it seemed the options are like you said
1. ur fukt lol get used to it, you're a twink now
2. surgery(you will end up like ronnie coleman in a wheelchair anyways)
3. it wasn't that bad anyways and will get better just stretch lol
so i went with option 3 for the last 4 years, but lately when I've been straining my back at work my symptoms have progressed from just feeling pain to the back of my legs and the bottoms of my feet going numb, which kinda has me freaked out

First off, ronnie coleman is what you're gonna be in 2 more years if you dont get surgery.

>progressed from just feeling pain to the back of my legs and the bottoms of my feet going numb

Congrats, your disc has slipped out again. Each time this happens theres a chance the disk ruptures and loses more of its fluid and your chance of recovery reduces.

Eventually there will be nothing left inside the disc to reabsorb back between the vertebrae and your vertebrae will be bone on bone. This is what is medically referred to as fucked. This is what ronnie coleman has, spinal fusion. They are literally removing his diseased discs which are barely existing to stop them from pushing on his spinal nerves. Good for the nerves, bad for the pain since bone on bone action in your spine is the worst pain you can feel.

Get to a fucking doctor
Get an mri
Go to a neurosurgeon, insist you have been resting for 4 years and it is not reabsorbing conventially and demand surgery.

You're not lost yet to permanent pain and paralysis but you will be soon if you dont go to a doctor now.

>Each time this happens theres a chance the disk ruptures and loses more of its fluid and your chance of recovery reduces.
oh fugg. I didn't know that. can you seriously get paralyzed from this shit? jesus fucking christ. I legit didn't know this shit

yeah, I went from not being able to stand for more than 30 seconds without severe pain to sprinting, jumping, squatting, standing all day, working etc.
I got prolotherapy, it fixed everything.

I saw 4 doctors, 3 physiotherapists and a nerve pain specialist. Fucking useless idiots. My naturopath solved the problem, they just offer bandaid solutions and yes microdisectamy is a bandaid solution which will lead to further problems down the road.

Yes. There are nerves in your spinal column and they share a small passageway next to the discs. If they push out they will press on them. Pressure on nerves equals inflamed nerves. If the nerves are imflamed for long enough time they get damaged. Too much damage? Loss of sensation, strength, loss of cold/warmth and eventually loss of motor function.

barbell medicine

>prolotherapy
qrd?
well fugg i guess i better figure out how to get health insurance now

>naturopath

Let me guess he smeared some fucking honey on your back and declared you healed?

Listen to me OP
LISTEN CLOSELY
I already went through this shit
Don't go to doctors, they haven't figured out a solution yet
Go to a naturopath and get Prolotherapy
I was in a worse position than you, my leg had gone numb
Now a year later (a year after prolotherapy) I have full function back and am pain free but my left foot is still a bit numb from nerve damage
Do not try to lift your way out of this, stop lifting
After prolotherapy you will lay in bed for 7 days
after that you will be good again
Trust me
Don't waste money and time on swindling doctors
GET PROLOTHERAPY
FUCK

>After prolotherapy you will lay in bed for 7 days
are you serious? why, because you're in that much pain or something?

All studies point to it being snake oil.
They inject irritants in your joints and that's supposed to make them feel better eventually.

>well fugg i guess i better figure out how to get health insurance now
no you jackass, fuck the whole health care system, they are fucking retards who want to keep you dependent on them for life
Prolotherapy is an injection that causes acute inflammation that repairs the ligaments in your back, 90% of herniated discs are caused by damaged ligaments because they can no longer maintain tension in the spine causing your vertebrae to collapse and crush the disc
Just do it, it'll be a lot cheaper than doctors and only takes 1 treatment
hurhur fuckin funny man! keep paying your doctors and physiotherapists for their life long treatments that will never actually work

I have a herniated disk between L5-S1 and I pretty much never have pain. I got it from doing heavy deadlifts with bad form, so now I have stopped doing deadlifts and I switched to front squats instead of back squats since they could hurt a little sometime. RDL and lots of core work is helpful. I also do yoga which is very helpful but you must be careful because alot of moves can fuck your back up more especially movements that extend or flex your lower back.

I can do light deadlifts but as soon as I go heavy it hurts, sumo and hexbar makes it a little better but it doesn't remove the pain completly. Sadly you might have to give up squating.

no, because while the ligaments are repairing they are in a delicate situation where if you move very much it can mess up the healing process
yeah studies done and funded by the companies who make insane profits by selling pain pills/nerve blockers and surgeries to people with back pain for life, trust them!
dude at the gym who told me about it was also completely wrecked from herniated disc, when I met him he was deadlifting 5 plate and told me he could barely move a year prior to that
sure it's anecdotal but in my experience I've known only two people to receive it and both had 100% success with it
so yeah, trust your jewish studies and go get the doctor to slice a piece out of your disc only to relapse again a year later
stupid goy

>90% of herniated discs are caused by damaged ligaments because they can no longer maintain tension in the spine
is that true? that would explain a lot since it feels like a tendon issue in my lower left back but progressed to nerve pain etc like it does for everyone.
how much did your treatment cost?

And don't get surgery if it doesn't affect your every waking moment. Back surgery can fuck you up more if you're unlucky.
