What's the redpill on running shoes?

Cushion, air thingies, those weird spring-y ones, ust plain regular training shoes...?

Any particular brand/model you like?

go to a good running store, have them watch how you run and recommend shoes
if you're broke, ask them if there are any previous season models on clearance that could work
if they're not ultraminimal, change them every 500 miles

>What's the redpill on running shoes?
no Cushion, no air thingies, no those weird spring-y ones.
Just a correctly shaped shoes that is a piece of flexible rubber.

Thanks. Not broke, but a bit wary of those "personalized shoes" stores. Always thought they were a meme. I mean, I know the tech exists, but just trusting the opinion of little Timmy on his first part time job seems weird. Maybe I'm just slowly becoming a boomer

Thanks, Adolfo

The Jews maintain that the people are resisting the government's total workout measures. It does not want total workouts, but deformed and weak feet! I ask you: Do you want total workout? If necessary, do you want a workout more total and radical than anything that we can even imagine today?

no shoes. i run barefoot. completely barefoot. not a shoe on my foot; barefoot!!

Those personalized shoe stores will not only let you try them on but actually run in them. Some will have a treadmill. The one I bought from didn't but they let me round outside the block a bit.

it's not tech, they're just gonna look at how you land, pronation, etc. I know the place I go to hired almost exclusively off local cross country teams

yeah they should have you try a couple potential pairs of shoes on and run around the store at least, forgot to mention that

>Always thought they were a meme. I mean, I know the tech exists, but just trusting the opinion of little Timmy on his first part time job seems weird
SO YOU INSTEAD PREFER TO ASK ANONYMOUS PEOPLE ONLINE AND DEFINITELY TAKE THEIR OPINIONS 100% FACT? WHAT A FUCKING RETARD. KILL YOURSELF.

Take the barefoot pill user
If you do not want meaty calluses then use ATTA FUCKEN BOY

After running in minimalist shoes for over 2 years its pure fucking suffering walking and running in "normal" shoes. You have to fight the shoes every step of the way, what your body wants to do and what the shoe wants to do are at odds at all times.
I fucking hate it so much it's unreal.
The only reason normies are able to tolerate it is because it's the only thing they have known for all of their life.

WOW THANK YOU MAN I'LL GO DO THAT NOW

asics nimbus

The one near my place has a (puportedly) magic treadmill thingie that gives you the stats. You have to book it and shit.

Barefoot crowd: I'd love to, and I run barefoot all the time when back at the beach, but it is really not an option in my town. AIDS glass and ebola syringes, etc..

what minimalist shoes do you use? I have vibrams and theyre great for trails, but I cant run on the road/pavement with them.

based as FUCK

So I'm all for minimalist shoes, but are those toed thingies really comfortable?

It kinda looks like it would chafe between your toes to me

Not him, but I literally don't know why it matters the brand of minimalist shoes when they pride themselves on being a thin piece of rubber. I guess a higher quality brand will help it from falling apart too quickly, but how would a vibram be any better than the 40 dollar whitin shoes on amazon?

I do have one of those thin rubber ones (reeeeally cheap, no toes) and they're kinda shit

I like to run with any type of footwear
Open toe sandals, hiking shoes, running shoes, flip flops, etc.
Maybe it's autism

idk about all that
it might be good, just make sure it's the kind of place that's been open for like 40+ years that local serious runners go to, you can ask in some online group maybe

minimalist shoes then

>what minimalist shoes do you use?
pic related and any 30$ish minimalist shoes off amazon there is like 50 or more off brands and small variations there
>I have vibrams and theyre great for trails, but I cant run on the road/pavement with them.
that makes no fucking sense to me.
Trails usually have gravel and rocks, uneven hard terrain is more difficult with no protection than a flat hard surface.
I run on roads and pavement 95% of my time and is easy as fuck. It's only when I hit gravel and more specifically gravel on hard surfaces that I have to change my footstrike from a forefoot to a mid/flat foot strike to have as much surface area to mitigate elevations in the ground that can dig into your foot and put excessive pressure on one spot, like your bones.
here have another one, some user made after he was inspired by my original shitpost image.

I haven't used shoes with toes so I can't comment. I do run in toesocks as lets them more freely move around and do their thing, rather than being encouraged to bunch up.
Having a big enough toe box that is corrently shaped alone gives you a huge benefit. So I would absolutely encourage you get at least that.
I might try toed shoes within a year or so and see if there is much of a gain there or not.
>It kinda looks like it would chafe between your toes to me
I imagine it's not supposed to move around and toe socks should remove any friction...but who knows...

really cheap like 10$ ones can fall appart within a couple of tries.
my 30$ lasted me a year and 1500miles.
Not sure how much build quality or durability more well known brands offer and if their price increase is worth it or not.

Now that's an idea. Thanks.

forgot to add, pic related.
Correctly shaped toebox and the toebox being wide enough for your feet is the number one thing that I find non negotiable.
Either your shoe provides this or it's shit.
It's a fucking crime against humanity to make retarded INHUMAN shaped toeboxes that deform the toes by cramping them into unnatural shapes.
After that comes shit like hard and inflexible sole. Unless you are working in some environment where you need to protect your feet from spikes or some shit, you don't want a inflexible sole. The more flexible and light it is the more freedom your foot has to bend where and how it wants.
Lastly raised heels and such as a fucking meme.
Just a flat fucking surface for your foot is all you want.
A good shoe, is like a glove, it fits neatly around your hand and bends easily so you have dexterity.
A cast around your hand is a shit idea

don't know if you're joking about you already doing that here, I mean like "x county/city runners" on facebook or whatever (don't use social media personally)
there's probably a place that people go out of their way for, because you're usually not getting a new pair every month

Hoka Mach 4. Only problem I have with running shoes is that they’re all ugly as fuck except Nike and I refuse to give them any money.
