Why do you guys hate belts so much? It doesn't contribute anything to the lift. All it does is provide a surface to brace against allowing for a stronger core during the movement?

You misplaced the exclamation point so now I think you're asking if that's all it does.

> you guys
Who?

It forces my poopies out at the bottom of the movement.

If you need something to help your core, you're not strong enough yet to lift it. Simple as

Thanks reddit grammar nazi

that's the same logic applied to changing grip style in deadlift. "if you have to use mixed grip or straps you're too weak to deadlift"

It isn't. Not for mixing grip anyway. Hands are part of your body. However you lift a weight, you did lift it. What changes is what you call the lift, e.g. sumo vs conventional. But the belt and the straps aren't part of your body, and thus not invalidate the lift but take some merit off it I guess, because you can't lift X weight doing Y lift with only your body.

It doesn't let my pants fall off

Lads be honest do I need to use a belt as a beginner? I realize I can leg press over 700lbs but I can't hit a 200 squat yet. I believe the reason is that I have a weak core. Should I use a belt to get a heavier squat or continue working with lighter squat to develop my core along with leg muscles?

Use a belt whenever you want.

Dont go gym with poopies in ur butt UwU

Because the vast majority of people that use them are lifting babby weight. The other day at the gym I saw a gymcel offer his belt and straps to a guy deadlifting more than him, explaining how they help him because he has shitty grip and core strength
Grip strength is key for deadlifting. Get some grip trainers to actually improve your strength instead of replacing it with cope.

what weight did you begin at for squat? unironically if you start at a low enough weight and do progressive loading you will naturally develop enough strength in the support muscles to hit a 225 squat for reps without issue

>Grip strength is key for deadlifting. Get some grip trainers to actually improve your strength instead of replacing it with cope.
hook grip and mixed grip are not cope

>Because the vast majority of people that use them are lifting babby weight.
So as long as i'm squatting 4pl8 with the belt you're not going to have an issue with me?

World record dl was done with straps its you who copes.

I wanna buy a belt because i'm scrawny and I wanna show off in the gym for funsies

I use a lever belt, knee wraps and figure-8 straps and I don't care who knows.

>hook grip and mixed grip are not cope
Correct, straps are though
>not strong enough to lift the weight
>use straps to do it for you
>I lifted this weight all by myself I'm a big boy!

55 + 25 +25 = 105 was my max when I first started lifting (2 months ago)

They gave me a fucking hernia and now I have to do lunges and SLDL for life.

Don’t fall for this jewish trap

>I can leg press over 700lbs
Leg Press is entirely irrelevant. It’s a shitty, dangerous egolift machine that has almost no carryover to actual lifts.
>but I can't hit a 200 squat yet.
Your core is weak as fuck from all the leg pressing. Do more compounds.

Leg press numbers are completely meaningless fyi. It’s fine to use for hypertrophy but if you’re impressed by how much you can keg press you’re a retard.

This
