I’ve usually heard 1g/lb.

I eat 1 lb/ 1 lb

1g per kg of lean body weight

You only need enough protein to put you into a Positive Nitrogen balance. If you are in a negative nitrogen balance you cant grow muscle. So you need enough free protein flowing around in your body to get muscle growth.

You can use a simple urine test strip to check and see if your getting enough protein from your normal diet. If your negative you need to eat more protein. If your super far in the positive lay off the protein shakes.

link2study?

Doesn’t NO play an effect in creating a positive protein nitrogen balance?

Theoretically I could eat some beets or l-citrulline and throw myself into a positive nitrogen state.

Just search around looking for stuff about Nitrogen Balance and muscle gain

it's 1 cow per kg

yeah most people will be fine doing 0.8g - 1g/lb to make gains

You need 1.6-2.2 grams per kg of lean body mass. It never hurts to go above your protein so always aim for 2.2 grams per kg

2g per kg, it's .8-1g per lb.

With the test strips you can check to see if your getting enough say weekly from your normal diet and if you need to take more protein you will know.

What is the test strip called?

if you're lifting, you can do 2g per kg and it wont go to waste

why do i need caloric surplus if im eating 1g protein per lb of bodyweight? im skinny fat and want to build muscle and not gain body fat, so ive just been hitting my protein requirement while eating at a caloric deficit
im making gains though

I get these ones on Amazon. It test for 10 things but protein is one of them.

some guy on youtube said even 1g per lb is already a little overkill

interesting, thanks user

It’s 0.82g/lbs at most.

1,8g for every kg of bodyweight while putting on muscle, 2,2g per kg bodyweight while cutting.

You need to be training super hard for at least 2 hours a day to need that much protein. The surplus get oxidized.
