I think people would be a lot happier if they didn't settle for mr/mrs perfect and just had the realistic expectation that you're supposed to grow and mature WITH the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
You're not gonna wake up one day being Any Forums, 6 figure job, sense of accomplishment, own a house, have a family, etc all on your lonesome, your wife is supposed to build you up to that point.

Its difficult when society, especially in the past 2 years, has limited dating to mostly online interaction. Your first impression of someone is their appearance, which is ok I guess because you do have to be sexually attracted to someone to date them, but still.
Personally I think I'm decent looking and I tick the boxes of what a woman might want from a man and still do not feel confident enough to shoot my shot
